Lair of the Wolfpack : the submarine base at Lorient & the Battle of the Atlantic Abandoned Sector : a storytelling podcast, crafted by explorabilia

    • History

In this episode, based on one of my more popular blog posts, I am revisiting the history of the Keroman U-boot base in Lorient, and the role it played in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War 2.

The episode incorporates real sound clips from the WW2 : German U-Boot diesel engines and torpedoes firing, a Flakvierling 38 firing, and the roaring sounds of Allied bombers carpet bombing Monte Cassino. There's a 1941 rendition of Lili Marlene by Phyllis Heymans, a gramophone recording of Milord by Edith Piaf, and a version of the U boot Lied, all  sourced from the Internet Archive (archive.org)

it also includes audio clips from
