Didn’t know I needed this. But I do
By chance happened to listen to the Cher episode and was immediately hooked. This podcast is filling a void I didn’t know I had. Although I sometime wish he would dive even deeper into titular song before moving to the interview, I think this format is great. I enjoy Robs monologues
Not very enjoyable
I listened to the first episode, and then for fairness’ sake to one about one of my favorite songs of the 90s. I am afraid I didn’t like either.
It’s not only that the few interesting bits and insights about the songs were buried in short side notes. In fact, I would have preferred to see more focus and direction on exactly what the title says: explaining the 90s. In my book, that means not just laying our cross-references and connections, but putting then im context.
I had no idea who the host is or that he had written a book of the same title. Listening to him does not feel very engaged or inspiring.
Two stars for the really interesting selection of songs.
