I’m Lori Gottlieb, author of Maybe You Should Talk To Someone. And I’m Guy Winch, author of Emotional First Aid. We’re both advice columnists, TED speakers, and of course therapists in clinical practice who want to bring the lessons of the therapy room outside the therapy room… to all of you. Each week on DEAR THERAPISTS, we invite you to be a fly-on-the-wall in these personal, raw, transformative sessions with everyday people and then hear what happens when we give concrete, actionable advice and have them report back to let us know how things went after the session ended. We’re sharing these real sessions because we believe that everyone can benefit from hearing how people just like them get through their struggles and grow and change. So sit back and come into the therapy room with us… and prepare to learn a lot about yourself in the process.

My favorite podcast

I love Lori and Guy’s work so much. As a psychology student i am gaining so much valuable insight from each episode for my future profession and also for my own personal growth. Can’t thank Lori and Guy enough for their work. Thank you for such an amazing podcast!!

Inspiring & insightful

Been a fan of the show since day 1. During the first season I sometimes thought, “well this session topic is probably not for me”.

Well, I thought wrong. Even from the people who are in very different situations I can learn something about myself.

Guy and Lori are incredible at pinpointing core issues and address their “clients” with so much empathy and warmth while also holding them accountable and urging them lovingly to take responsibility for themselves. Oftentimes, I find the “homework” given at the end of each episode beneficial for myself. It’s an amazing show to learn more about yourself but also realise how we all really long for the same fundamental things. The show helped me with my own issues but also made me more empathetic towards other people’s perspective.

Best psychotherapy podcast

Great Podcast with lots of interesting psychological insights. Love that we get the perspective from two different psychotherapists at the same time.
