Diseño y Diáspora Mariana Salgado

Helelyn Tammsaar is an Estonian designer working in the Innovation team. The special characteristic of this Innovation team is that it  serves the ministries of Estonian. She has a background in behavioral sciences and anthropology. She tells us in this interview about a pilot they have done to address the problem of over speeding. She also acknowledges the need to convince on the benefits of design within the public sector and how a mindshift started by motivating civil servants to do fieldwork.

We have plan this serie with Anni Leppänen as part of her larger research for understanding the current change in the government and the design sector. Netta Korhonen is our colleague from the network of designers working in the government. We wanted to invite Nettta for this series as she has done work related to thinking about the future from Vinnova, the Sweden's innovation agency. In that organisation she was a specialist in Strategic design. Nowadays she works as an independent  expert in co-design and systemic design. In this interview we talk about preventive health, participatory foresight and roles of designers in the government. Netta is part of the Renewal lab and she tells us about it.

Michael Dorka es un diseñador de experiencia y profesor de diseño alemán que vive en Argentina. Hablamos del desarrollo de un teléfono fijo para el uso doméstico, de diseño inclusivo y diseño ético. Aparece el tema de los patrones oscuros y las respuesta que puede dar el diseño para transparentar las consecuencias de lo sucede. Según Michael el diseñador tiene que poder mostrar las consecuencias a corto y largo plazo de las decisiones que toma la gente al usar un producto o servicio. 

Michael organiza conversaciones sobre diseño y ética, para poder hablar de la responsabilidad social de los diseñadores. Según Michael si los diseñadores no piensan en un diseño universal no soy responsable.

Christian Bason was the first name that came to our mind, when thinking in design in government, this is why his interview opens this serie. Christian is the co-founder of Transition collective. He used to be the CEO of the Danish Design Centre, a publicly funded institution based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was also the Director of MindLab, the Danish government's innovation team (from 2007-2014). He wrote many books that many of us read on design in government. In this interview we talk about his last book: Expand, Streching the future by design, written with Jens Martin Skibsted.

Hugo Palmarola es un diseñador, curador e investigador chileno. Es profesor de la Universidad Católica de Chile. En esta entrevista nos cuenta sobre la intersección de las exposiciones con la investigación histórica en diseño.
