"An Idle and Most False Imposition"; The Shakespeare Authorship Question - Part Three: Oxford's Ghost

In the penultimate installment of this weekly series on the Shakespeare authorship question, I bring the debate up to the modern day, to the most successful claim that someone else wrote the works attributed to the Bard, which also has relied on conspiracy and hidden codes and even on talking with ghosts.

In the first part of a special WEEKLY 4-part series on the Shakespeare authorship controversy, I look at Shakespeare's deification as a godlike literary figure, examine the dearth of information about him, which led to many forgeries and much conjecture, and trace the development of baseless doubts about his identity.

kathafrass00 ,

Thoroughly researched

The podcast is very well-researched, and really the only drawback for me is that he provides just SO much detail sometimes, it can be a bit hard to keep up with the story. But that’s not even really a drawback - more like a product of my short attention span. Several other reviews mention political bias; the opinions of the creator are clearly expressed and they are opinions which focus on caring about and listening to marginalized groups. It’s worth pointing out that the stories we have heard about these marginalized groups have been biased against them for decades, centuries, or millennia. It is a humanitarian duty to speak out against injustices, and if that is “too political” for some people, to hell with them. The creator is clearly very passionate about these topics; many of the stories he’s covered have been quite obscure and he provides thorough source documentation on his website. If you want a podcast that doesn’t only cover stories with Wikipedia articles, give this one a go. 🤗

Those who love historical tales

I can just never get enough of these little tales. Great podcast. Love it and listen to it.

no name abailable ,

Not very good

I found the podcast was just a person sitting behind a microphone & rambling on and on without structure and so monotone that I almost fell asleep.
