It Could Happen Here started as an exploration of the possibility of a new civil war. Now a daily show, it's evolved into a chronicle of collapse as it happens, and an exploration of how we might build a better future. Every day Robert Evans, Garrison Davis, Mia Wong, James Stout and Shereen Lani Younes take you on a jaunty walk through the burning ruins of the old world and towards a better one that lays just on the horizon.

Cool, coolcoolcool.
Reviewing this podcast is weird because "Season 1" and "2" are not the same podcast, but the original series that became season 1 was my first contact with Robert Evans and oooh boy is it a ride and has it shaped my perspective on the concept of civil war in the US. It was scary to see how well some of it could be mapped to my homecountry in europe too... its haunting how I can still occasionally listen to it and cross off some of the 'predictions' (not all of them, but some stuff was only avoided due to sheer luck and/or incredible stupidity by the instigators). Cant recommend it enough!
"Season 2", the daily podcast is a whole different beast and a lot more chaotic in a good sense. You never really know what you will get from an episode, could be a 30 minute essay on the crumbling of the Silicon Valley concept of innovation, StAndrew could pop in for a quick lecture on building resilient communities in the ruins of civilization, you could be laughing at a 3-parter on neofascist memes, or the latest glorious addition to the catalogue: an episode on sheep and how cool they are. There is a whole team of wonderful, pretty young, non-establishment-journalists that each have their own style. Presentation can be a round-table with guests, a monologue, a reading, a trialogue of the hosts. Not every topic interests me, some episodes are just too online or too USAmerican for me, but I have been consistently listening to a couple of episodes every week for years at this point and it honestly helped me broaden my horizon to include very niché things and things that arent on my radar because I'm not directly affected. I really like the network that has formed around this podcast and appreciate all the effort put into making it a platform that can redirect some of the "Robert Evans"-traffic to other talents. The dark/cynical humor paired with the lets-do-better attitude is really my jam too, good stuff!
PS: Thanks Sophie and Danl for producing and editing! I doubt you read this, but thanks a bunch for keeping stuff from going up in flames!
Brilliant
Well spoken, well researched and more than up to date. Enjoyed listening from the save distance of Europe.
