    Babak Ganjei - Episode 19

    Babak Ganjei - Episode 19

Welcome to Episode 19 of Know Ideas! In this episode we travelled to London to speak to Artist, Musician and Filmmaker, Babak Ganjei.

His work is funny, satirical, vulnerable and self referencial. He creates hand painted thoughts and makes them into neon signs. Paints living rooms from the 90s sitcoms he wished he’d lived in and lives in a part of London where sticks from the park go for big bucks on ebay.

We had a brilliant time with Babak. We spoke about him and his son Arthur and the work they have now done together. We chatted about his childhood, growing up between London and the south coast and off mic we had a good chat about chocolate bars. Its a really fun episode and is a brilliant insight into his work and life as an artist. He’s up there with being the most ideas based guest we’ve had on! We love ideas!

Check out our website page for all the links to his work and things we talk about.... www.knowideaspodcast.co.uk

Charlie Dark MBE - Episode 18

Last month we had the pleasure of speaking with the inspirational Charlie Dark, now MBE. We both wanted to speak to Charlie for such a long time being big fans of his talks and radio show. We spoke to him about his childhood, music whilst growing up, meeting Malcolm Mclaren, being sent to Ghana by his mum, his musician days and the origins of what he does now with Run Dem Crew and being a global ambassador of joy and inspirational speaker. We loved this one!

    Jasper Goodall - Episode 17

Hello listeners! It's been a while! We are back with a very special episode we recorded in the wild with nocturnal photographer, Jasper Goodall. Thankyou to Jasper for taking us out into the cold dark woodland for this one! His work explore ideas around being lost, loneliness, symbolic aspects of darkness and the fear of the unknown. Jasper's work is mysterious, beautiful and unsettling all at the same time. We hope you enjoy this one, it was a lot of fun to record and touches on some of fascinating subjects. Go check out his work at https://www.jaspergoodall.com/

This is a one off for now but we hope to be back with regular episodes really soon! Watch this space!

    Mr. Bingo - Episode 16

    Mr. Bingo - Episode 16

Mr. Bingo is an artist living and working from London.

We have been trying to talk to Bingo from Day 1, so it was an absolute pleasure to finally do so as he doesn’t really do podcasts. After setting up the gear in his flat overlooking a canal in East London, moving some large cacti and settling down with tea and cake we got to talking about his life as Mr. Bingo.

As he puts it, he grew up in a ‘normal’ family and was always really interested in art and creating from a kid, getting through school to pursue creative projects. We talk in depth about his now infamous kickstarter campaign a few years back. Each reward was a beautifully planned and excuted project in itself. We discuss his amazing advent calendar project and how that has evolved over the years. There’s a whole heap of honesty and a lot of laughs in this one! A great insight into an incredible artist and what he is all about.

If you’ve not seen his amazing kickstarter rap video then check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOioshwasl4

We will be back in the spring with more ideas.

    Camille Walala - Episode 15

    Camille Walala - Episode 15

Welcome to Episode 15! This month we talk to the fantastic french artist, Camille Walala.

Camille grew up in small village in France and didn’t find her area of work until she moved to London in her late 20s. We had a amazing chat about her childhood, her influences and how it has shaped her work. We discuss London and the city she finds most inspiring. Something that was really interesting was her use of sketchbooks and collage in her practice for working through ideas and simply being creative. We also discuss some specifics of our favourite projects Camille has created over the past few years!

We hope you enjoy this one.

    Jim Stoten - Episode 14

Woah! Episode 14 already! And this one is a real beauty!

We travelled in September to visit Jim Stoten in Hastings.

Jim is a prolific artist and illustrator whose mind blowing scenic pictures have graced magazines, advertising, animations, galleries and more worldwide. He is a really genuine and lovely guy and we loved talking to him.

We had an incredible chat with Jim about his work, stories of growing up, his Nan’s black house, stand up comedy, his books, talking at Pictoplasma and some amazing insights into his struggles with his own mind and battles with depression.

It’s a wonderfully honest episode which we really hope you enjoy!
