A conversation with myself, a 49 year old Australian male with over 20yrs policing experience in Australia, allowing my thoughts and reflections to vent, kinda cathartic. I am not qualified to provide professional advice, only lived experiences. This is my first attempt at recording my thoughts, I hope I can have more conversations with others around their journeys of post-traumatic growth.     Well a lot has happened since I talked to myself here after the mountain bike day. And that seems the most popular episode, I would love to know if that’s cause it was good, or if everyone thought it was about mountain biking, not mateship and recovery? Anyway, quick catch up today and I’ll likely continue taking to my self again here to update what’s going on. I would love to hear comments, if only I could find a way to add that? We shall see.     Caught up with 3 mates experiencing post policing trauma, one has exited and the other two are still in the process. We hit the Nerang Mountain Bike Trails in Qld Australia today and it was awesome! The comradely, the exercise and the bush setting, was a great time for mateship, support and debriefing. If you are experiencing high stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD or other symptoms where you just feel shit, grab a bike and hit the path or bush. It is cathartic and great to challenge yourself while using that anger or stress as fuel for the ride.

    Well, since my last recording 27 Feb 2021, a lot has happened. In fact, it all happened very soon after. So after supporting a number of team members for a long time, it was time that I was supported and had to listen to my own advice. The effects and residue of over 20 years as a first responder, colliding with an exhausted resilient level, culminating in a 'mini flameout'. So now, I manage the daily requirements of self-care and improvement, to restore my natural state by using exercise, mindfulness, and meditation as tools, along with trained therapists and my lovely, caring, and understanding wife :) This is recorded on the Anchor Podcast App (and web version), messages can be sent through there I believe, if anyone wants too.

    Hi, This is a personal journey for me, I have recorded my thoughts on a day I escaped to the mountains and nature. I had (still have) a lot going on and needed to reconnect to nature, in order to settle my mind and re-focus my direction. This is the raw, unedited, no intro and not a podcast worthy recording of this thought process as it happened a few days ago while reconnecting with nature. The perfect way to allow my mind to unpack everything and get some exercise while enjoying the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park NSW, Australia.  I recorded on my iPhone directly into voice memo, there are very loud insects in the background, though it's just me being me. I have often wondered about doing a Podcast and who, if anyone, would want to listen. So for now, it's good for me as I can unpack and voice my concerns/thoughts, that assists me to move through issues. If I continue, maybe I'll get some tips and make it more enjoyable to listen too.
