With the news that a man has been charged with the murder of Samantha Murphy after she disappeared in Ballarat when she went for a Sunday morning run near her home six weeks ago, women are feeling heartsick and despairing and furious and so very tired at what seems like the impossible task of staying safe while trying to live our lives.

In this special episode, Mia Freedman has a message for our brothers, our fathers, our partners, our lovers, our friends, our sons and our workmates… here’s something the women in your lives would like you to know.

THE END BITS:

While it appears Samantha was killed by a stranger, a woman reports domestic or family violence every 2 minutes in Australia. Help her start again with RizeUp.

Mamamia has partnered with community-driven charity RizeUp to help women escape these situations and start their lives again. We’re asking Australians to donate $2 per week to help reduce the number of women being killed and support them to start their lives again free from family violence.
