    Students give mini presentations on "How to do something.”

    Here are some possible topics:
    1. How to start a car
    2. How to use a photocopier
    3. How to make a cup of tea
    4. How to make an omelet
    5. How to change a tire
    6. How to change baby's nappy
    7. How to make a telephone call
    8. How to play Golf
    9. How to play Cricket

    This can be more or less complicated, as the teacher wishes.
    It can, for example, be a 4-minute delivery with no visual aids,
    or a 15-minute exposé with OHPs and handouts followed by
    questions.
    Other students in the class may ask questions during and after
    the explanation.

    Who Stole the Camera
    Read the Clues. Then try to figure out who stole the camera. Compare your conclusion with the other groups in your class. Does everyone agree?

    Situation
    An expensive camera has been stolen from HACKENSPIT Department Store in New York. The store detective was near the camera department when the theft occurred. The store was very crowded at the time, but he is sure that the thief was one of five people. However, none of them has the camera now.

    The Usual Suspects
    Ruth Wells, age 42 lawyer (from Houston)
    Phillip Douglas, age 25 artist (from New York)
    Harry Lewis, age 32, accountant (from Dallas)
    Eleanor O’Toole, age 25, architect (from San Antonio)
    Timmy Butman, age 16, high school student (from Philadelphia)

    Clues
    The lawyer has two children.
    Three of the suspects are single.
    Timmy was wearing a T-shirt, jeans and was not carrying any bags.
    The artist owns one of the best cameras made.
    The camera was stolen for the thief’s “sweetheart.”
    The camera was finally found in a dressing room in the men’s department.
    The thief is not a parent.
    The architect has been married for two months.
    The thief doesn’t have a camera, but is very interested in photography.
    The camera was smuggled out of the camera department.
