You boy! What day is it? Ending the year in the NIR log cabin looking back at 2023 - our fifth annual review. Did anything to do with the Beatles happen this year? That’s right, the third anniversary of McCartney III. Oh, and a little tune called Now & Then. Includes a special Christmas guest!

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame
1988 was an unusual time: The biggest Beatle was George, rock stars were dealing with the unthinkable (their forties),
people were paying attention to Mike Love, and the rebellion of rock & roll had been replaced by a gentlemen’s club.

Live At The Roundhouse - Part Two

Live At The Roundhouse - Part Two

Live at the Roundhouse - Part Two
In December 1968, Michael Lindsay-Hogg directed a TV special where the kings of British rock gathered to play their new material.
Unfortunately, it was with the Rolling Stones. Whither The Roundhouse? What happened next and what could have happened?

Live At The Roundhouse - Part One

Live at the Roundhouse - Part One
After filming the Hey Jude promo, and in the midst of recording the White Album, somehow The Beatles decide to eye up a return to the stage in the heart of London. So where should that be, and how will they pull it off?

George Harrison - Gig In Japan

George Harrison - Gig In Japan

In 1991, when so many acts from the 60s were lucratively touring, George Harrison decided to dip his toes in the water.
Why? Money. Where? Japan. Who? Clapton. What…could possibly go wrong?

The Bestles!!!

These guys are just amazing. Great knowledge, entertaining and likeable. It was a pleasure to talk to Jason (and his wife for sure :)) at the live Podcast in Dublin. Come to Hamburg, just rent Gretel und Alfons!! See you, Carsten

Great Pod!

Constant listener since about a year here (listened to all the episodes including the first two seasons). I love how profoundly you guys dive into one single event and regularly manage to to give me a more complete picture of this band I consider myself a diehard fan of. Love the humour, love the choice of topics! If there’s any thing I’d have to criticise it’s Steven not acknowledging the importance and brilliance in the predominant role McCartney took from 1965 on envisioning all the albums that really made ‘em immortal. I know that being a George fan one might struggle with certain aspects of Paul’s personality. But I don’t see how could be doubting his superiority as musical mastermind of the group. Anyway, that’s just one tiny bit of disagreement that sometimes annoys me when I hear Steven talking about Paul. Apart from that I’m a huge fan of this pod. Especially the insights on marginal figures that appear in the Beatles story. One thing that’s refreshing especially in contrast to some American Beatles Pod's is that you guys don’t see any issue in speaking out about things you don’t like, be it music or movies or whatever. Not even in the Beatles cosmos it’s always sunny and rainbowy and there’s no shame in addressing that. Keep up the good work you guys! Greetings from a German Beatlesfan living in Argentina!

A good start...

Decent discussions about the Beatles without the usual hysteria or silliness. Both hosts are superfans - and quite pleasant to listen to. A rarity! The episode about Beatles books was great - although they forgot to mention Geoff Emerick‘s book, which I still can‘t get my head around.
