Plastisphere: A podcast on plastic pollution in the environment

Anja Krieger does what every good journalist does, breaking down the complexity of the subject and laying bare for the listener what scientists (and activists, and people caught in the chain of plastic production) know so far about humanity’s relationship with this strange substance that dominates our lives. To be honest, I had no idea how complicated it was until I started listening. So, inform yourself and be entertained. This podcast is a great way to get a grip on the ways we manipulate and have been manipulated by plastic.

Science journalist Anja Krieger takes us on a journey around the world in search of answers to plastic pollution. In which way are countries effected by plastic pollution? She speaks to scientists all over the world, takes a closer look at microplastic and nanoplastic. But also gets in touch with people making a living from collecting plastic. How can that be useful in fighting further plastic pollution? And in which way can we recycle plastic and reuse it. Is bioplastic really compostable?
