Seven Pillars of Peak Performance with Shannon Doleac!

Seven Pillars of Peak Performance with Shannon Doleac!

Shannon is on to something really big. When you work with nutrition in the context of life and what creates WELL-th, it becomes transformational and sustainable. In this wild world we live in, understanding this is maybe more important than ever to finding and being in your well.

Shannon was a gymnast - a really, really exceptional gymnast who was on the US National Team and one of few to be inducted into the University of Utah's Crimson Club Hall of Fame. In reaching that level of achievement and beyond, she tested all the waters of what it takes to create meaningful, lasting success. What she discovered was that no one else's secret to success was her secret to success. She had to unlock that on her own, and so do you.

What she did uncover was the magic of the "process" of discovering your own secret sauce and the essential elements that support that process. She calls them her 7 pillars, and we LOVE them. They are: Mind. Body. Food. Nature. Play. People. Rest. Today, in our podcast, she unlocks each of these and provides so many awesome ideas to stepping into them. You will find something incredibly valuable to work with here, I promise ;-)

Movement and headstands to get unstuck!? 5 Questions with Shannon Doleac.

Shannon’s responses to our 5 questions are pure gold.
Jill and I both signed up for headstand “classes” with her on the spot. Talk about getting unstuck!
And today, I break our rule of only asking our 5 questions.
    Why?
Because Shannon’s response to our creativity question is so good, I can’t resist exploring it even more.
This is what it’s all about, you guys!

Best thing about 5 questions? It’s power packed insight in just 10 minutes.

Dr. Benjamin Hardy: It's all About Creating Your Future Self

Dr. Benjamin Hardy: It's all About Creating Your Future Self

“I prefer the future predicting my behavior rather than my past, I think that’s a more intentional way to live than being on autopilot.”
     - Dr. Benjamin Hardy

There comes a time in every new podcasters life when you get that first “dream” guest… we have our first one TODAY, Dr. Benjamin Hardy!

The first time I came across Benjamin's work I was struck by it, it resonated, held truth, and recognized the "human" in the process of growth and transformation and how that can work for us rather than against us. There was something special about this guy and the courage and authenticity with which he was showing up to the world. I can joyfully say that finally meeting him confirmed all that. You've probably stumbled upon his work somewhere - thru his articles/blog (read in places like Forbes, Big Think, The Ladders, Inc. by over 100 million people), his book Willpower Doesn't Work, and his TedX talks (check out the 100% rule).

Today, Benjamin releases his new book Personality Isn't Permanent and I promise you, this book is a game changer. His premiss? Forget about what and who personality tests tell you you are, you are not limited by that. In fact, we are not limited by our traumas, our past, where we are today, the people in our lives, our perceived "identity"... none of it. His invitation?  It's time to create your future self, and in doing so, release yourself from all that limitation.

Given that Jill and I coined the phrase PlayCreate Forward, you can imagine that we love this book and have a lot of alignment with Benjamin on this. We love that this book is an actual guide to the steps you can take to start living into your future self - he doesn't just talk about the way, he shows you the way. I believe this book has significant value in the context of the major transformation we are universally undergoing right now. Will be curious what you think on this!

Ready to stop overvaluing your current identity and personality so you can step into something that will bring you so much more joy and transformation? Today's podcast is for you.

Ready for this week's challenge? It's all about doing some work with your future self. THIS IS REALLY POWERFUL STUFF! Listen in to learn how.

You can learn more about Dr. Benjamin Hardy at www.benjaminhardy.com. And you can order Personality Isn't Permanent here.

VISUALIZATION: Transformation-creating Listening Skills (Exercise 5 of 5)

VISUALIZATION: Transformation-creating Listening Skills (Exercise 5 of 5)

    DAY FIVE!!!! Whoop Whoop!

This has been a really special adventure and I love what I'm hearing from you all about your experiences. I'm re-learning and learning so much about better, more transformational ways of listening as well, and am so very thankful to you all for this.

Today, we explore tools to help us practice listening well in any context. It's easy to listen well when conditions make it easy, it's much harder when emotions are high. So what does it take to listen well, no matter what?  How can we show up prepared to listen well? As you can guess, it takes practice, it takes getting out of our comfort zones, and we've got some little bits of insight to help.

VISUALIZATION: Transformation-creating Listening Skills (Exercise 4 of 5)

VISUALIZATION: Transformation-creating Listening Skills (Exercise 4 of 5)

It's Day 4... let's dive deep into that filter that most gets in our way when we are listening.

We tend to listen THRU the lens of ourselves. It's hard not to. And yet, that is often the very thing that gets in the way of listening well. Don Miguel Ruiz wrote one of my first life-changing books called the Four Agreements. One of those four agreements is "Don't Take Anything Personally." Today, we explore how we can let go of our own egos so we can listen to others well. I didn't know this was where Day 4 was going to go, I'm really glad it has though. This is good stuff!

I also invite you to keep an eye out for tomorrow's final exploration because this is where we bring all of this full circle. When, where and how we listen lives in context and contexts change dramatically - sometimes overnight in global ways as we are witnessing first hand. Listening in context has the profound ability to transform our understanding and experience of the world and people around us, as well as our understanding of and experience within ourselves.
