The first Gimlet show I'm not really a fan of - flat storytelling, self-inflated hosts and very little surprises so far. As always it's still beautifully produced, but tat doesn't make up for the shortcomings imo

Maybe it's just because its particular mix of gushiness and sentimentality (seriously, Adam is a changed man because he played some basketball?) does not travel the Atlantic very well, or because Radiolab has been doing something similar for years while giving its audience more credit, but this podcast will have to get much better before I'll like it. It's beautifully produced, of course, but the deep growls voices don't work so well when you're listening in the car.
