    32: Preserving Black Culinary Narratives through Storytelling with Sheree Williams of Cuisine Noir and The Global Food and Drink Initiative

    Sheree Williams is the founder and executive director of The Global Food and Drink Initiative (GFDI), based in Oakland, California. Since 2009, Sheree has been leading the charge in culinary storytelling as the publisher of the first Black global digital and print culinary lifestyle publication, Cuisine Noir Magazine. Through her visionary leadership, Cuisine Noir has been instrumental in connecting the African diaspora through the lens of food, drink, and travel, sparking important conversations about Black chefs, tastemakers, winemakers, and travel influencers.
    In this episode, Sheree shares the lessons she's learned from running a publication centered on Black food and culture and the trends she sees shaping Black foodways in 2024 and beyond. She also emphasizes the importance of sharing Black stories as a means of preserving. Black history. In the table topic, she offers her tips for writers and media professionals interested in amplifying underrepresented voices.
