In this Episode, we talk with Tina Leder about communication skills, verbal fluency, and how to sound smarter.

Verbal fluency is your ability to move from thoughts to words quickly and to access information from your memory. You're able to express accurately what you want to say and when you want to say it. There are times when you're more verbally fluent than other times.

Verbal fluency is, basically, the ease with which a person can produce words. There are several tests of this ability, but most of them involve some sort of category like fruits, words beginning with the letter Q or animals.

How to Sound Smart
Use simple terminology. Stop thinking the use of big words will make you appear smart. ...
Don't over-articulate. Connect the words within phrases together.
Relax & Breathe. Being relaxed always improves your performance; exhale your voice right out of your lungs. ...
Use a varied intonation pattern.
