Daphne Ashbrook Soars Through Space & Time

Daphne Ashbrook had a very memorable appearance on the Star Trek DS9 episode, "Melora," playing the titular character in an episode that examined physical disabilities through a 90's sci-fi lens. Today, the episode is still discussed and debated, and this ensign's actress is ready to explain her side of the story, as well as tales from other productions ranging from modern films, period pieces, and a few things timey-wimey.
Daphne tells us about wearing the Elaysian makeup and body prosthetics, navigating the tricky sets in an electric wheelchair, flying in the air on wires while kissing Alexander Siddig, and her take on the plot and intentions of "Melora," and how she views it through a modern perspective. Plus, her secret audition for a Star Trek movie, working with David Hasselhoff on "Knight Rider," the incredible stunts she did on an obscure made-for-TV movie, her trio of “Murder, She Wrote” appearances loaded with Star Trek alumni (as well as Florence Henderson), and behind-the-scenes stories from her starring role in the American “Doctor Who” movie with Paul McGann. Vadia Potenza Is All Ears About Being Spock

While his time on-screen might have been brief, Vadia Potenza is one of the few actors to play Spock in Star Trek history. Today, his journey through Hollywood brought him to a different profession that can make or break a film or TV show.
Potenza is best known to Trekkies as one of the young Spocks in "Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock," and has fond memories of meeting and being directed by Leonard Nimoy, working with Robin Curtis and Lee Remmick, and what it was like to become a Vulcan. We also learn about some of his childhood gigs, including "Father Dowling Mysteries," why he moved away from performing, where life took him as an adult in directing and editing, and a second chance at playing Spock in an unexpected film.
Plus, being a production assistant with Jim Henson's studio for the Muppets, stories from BET's "The Iron Ring" MMA reality tv show, editing A&E biography documentaries, and his job today working with Karamu Brown.

Deborah Strang Hears A Noise Within

Deborah Strang Hears A Noise Within

Deborah Strang's life journey took her from rural Virginia near the Appalachian Mountains to the stages of New York, regional theater across the United States, and finally arriving in Hollywood.
Trekkies remember Strang from her role as Admiral T'Lara in the fourth season "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episode, "Rules of Engagement," but her career has some other Trek connections, too. We learn about her origins in the performing arts and the tools she picked up along the way; one of the most valuable lessons on acting she learned from her first TV gig, working with Scott Bacula on "Quantum Leap," and Pedro Pascal on "Touched by An Angel" in one of his earliest roles (ages before becoming Din Djarin in "The Mandalorian") and being part of the DC and Marvel Comics animated universes.
Today, Deborah is a resident artist at "A Noise Within," a theater company in California that she's been involved with for decades and continues to perform with today. Over the years, Strang has learned tons of things about her craft, and she shares many of those important ones with us on this episode of Trek Untold.
Watch Deborah Strang perform in George Bernard Shaw's "Misalliance" at A Noise Within Theater in Pasadena, CA, from May 12 through June 9. Tickets are available now at www.anoisewithin.org

Castulo Guerra and the Eternal Bliss of Doing What You Love

At nearly 80 years old, Castulo Guerra is more energized than ever about acting. Originally born in Argentina, his life changed when a classic movie was filmed in his small town, setting him on a journey that brought him onto stages across the United States. Today, he tells us his motivating and inspirational life story and perspective on acting!
Trekkies know Guerra as Seth Mendoza in the 3rd season "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode, "The Price," but he's a veteran of stage and screen with endless stories to tell about his decades-spanning career that includes James Cameron's "Terminator 2," "The A-Team," and working with young up-and-comers like Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washinton, and Raul Julia before they made it big. Guerra is an actor who began his career when Hollywood had no idea what to do with a Latino performer, and today, he continues to perform in a world that is at last ready to hear stories from this segment of underrepresented artists.
Guerra is starring in "Ghost Waltz" with the Latino Theatre Company this summer. Tickets are available at https://www.latinotheaterco.org/ghostwaltz
