    "Why ARE we so sick?"

From our toxic-chemical laden environment and food supply to commonplace nutritional deficiencies, to the poor lifestyle habits of today, it is more a question of...

"Why are we ALL not sick?"

In this series I am still in Part 1, Nutritional Deficiencies. Having addressed the trace mineral lithium and the critically important mineral iodine, last week and the week before I talked about magnesium; another critical nutrient most of us do not get enough of, for a variety of reasons.

Today I'm going to start digging into the B vitamins. B vitamins easily go missing today due to the common suboptimal diet. Foods rich in B vitamins are also some are avoiding thinking they are eating more healthfully, such as meat and dairy.

I'll start with an overview of the entire B-Complex, and then in future programs and newsletters break them down into the various players.

In this series I am still in Part 1, Nutritional Deficiencies. Having addressed the trace mineral lithium and the critically important mineral iodine, last week I talked about magnesium; another critical nutrient most of us do not get enough of, for a variety of reasons. Today I'd like to continue on with the topic of Marvelous Mag, including more fascinating information and reading to you some "case studies" indicating how magnesium repletion can make a world of difference in a person's picture of health. You may see yourself in the information I share, or maybe someone else you care about.

The good news comes after the bad, which is to say... If we know what is broken, then we know what to fix, and in the case of missing nutrients, we then know how to "fix it."

Why are we so sick? Continuing the series, Part 1 - MISSING NUTRIENTS Sulfur Deficiency

    What is sulfur?

Sulfur is an important structural atom in most proteins as sulfur amino acids (cystine, cysteine and methionine) and small organic molecules. Glutathione, a tripeptide containing cysteine, is essential to cellular reactions involving sulfur amino acids in protein. Sulfur is found in a reduced form GSH) in cysteine and in an oxidized form ( SS) as the double molecule, cystine. This "sulfhydryl group" is important for the specific configuration of some structural proteins and for the biological activities of some enzymes (proteins that do work). Sulfur containing proteins work in indirect ways to maintain life.

New Series Why are we so sick? Missing Nutrients Part 1

Complicating the toxic issues of our environment, modern medicine's failure to address root causes and root therapies, there are some vital key nutrients most of us are deficient in and for various reasons. Among them are sulfur, iodine, magnesium and one that might surprise you...LITHIUM!

Lithium Is an Essential Element For most people, the word “lithium” suggests images of mental unrest, imbalance, or overt mental illness. This is because societal perception of lithium for the last 100 years has almost exclusively been defined by its use in high doses (150- 360 mg elemental Li) to treat bipolar disorder and various forms of mental illness.
