    Productivity: panic or panacea?

    Productivity: panic or panacea?

Behind the Headlines investigates the UK’s productivity crisis: what it actually means, why it’s an important aspect to understand, what it means for wages and international competitiveness, and what the potential solutions might be to reignite our growth.
Tom Thackray (Director for Innovation and Digital Policy at the Confederation of Business Industry), Craig Beaumont (Head of External Affairs at the Federation of Small Business), and Rebecca Burn-Callander (freelance journalist for the Daily Telegraph, and previously its Enterprise and Business Club Editor), join Eulogy CEO Lis Field to discuss the true value of productivity as a barometer of economic health, and whether businesses can claw back the ‘lost decade’ following the 2008 recession.
Listen in as our experts explore how small changes – be it to the tax regime, to payment terms for small business, or to the education structure and its widening skills gap – can combine to create a real and immediate impact.

Behind the Headlines: Eulogy’s International Directors Study

Behind the Headlines: Eulogy’s International Directors Study

Negotiations to agree Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union officially got underway this week, just short of the one-year-anniversary since the Referendum decision. The hope of course, is that these negotiations deliver the kind of confident, pro-business environment that has culminated in the UK being one of the most celebrated, successful and internationally diverse centres in the world for business.
This diversity is to be celebrated, which is why Eulogy was keen to harness the views of a significant, yet untapped demographic on the issue of Brexit; non-British nationals working as company directors in the UK. Our International Directors Study was born.
In this edition of Behind the Headlines, we explore the findings of our research with Elliott Haworth, business features writer at City AM, Bindi Karia, dubbed the ‘queen of start-ups’ and an innovation expert who sits on multiple Advisory Boards aligned with the tech sector, and entrepreneur Nikolay Piriankov, CEO and founder of jewellery firm Taylor & Hart, selling custom diamond rings online, with innovation and tech at the heart of the business.
Will they agree with the 81 per cent of non-British directors in UK business who appear indifferent towards the EU, citing Britain’s divorce as an opportunity for their business? Furthermore, will Britain’s departure culminate in the disintegration of the EU entirely, as 84 per cent of respondents suggest?

BEHIND THE HEADLINES: SOLVING THE TECH TALENT CRISIS

BEHIND THE HEADLINES: SOLVING THE TECH TALENT CRISIS

Is our nation hurtling towards the least innovative era in its proud history? Technology companies are increasingly concerned that we are—and it’s not for want of ambition, investment or progression.
So, what is holding us back?
In the first of a new series from Eulogy, Phil Borge and Chloe Redfern delve deep into the challenge of recruitment in the tech sector. Together, they look behind the headlines to ask industry leaders how to attract top talent to their businesses when demand is so at odds with supply.
In their quest, they meet Matt Soane, general manager, Ocado Technology and Luke Coleman, senior tech talent partner at Argos who discuss their strategies for recruiting a new generation of developers and engineers. Borge and Redfern turn also speak to Mark Di-Toro, careers expert at Glassdoor, for a candid assessment of the shrinking talent pool and, crucially, how to win its attention.
