Private and public collaboration Talking Transitions: With FORESIGHT Climate & Energy and EY

    • Business

Talking Transitions is a new special podcast series from FORESIGHT Climate & Energy and EY looking at how the transition to a sustainable economy—both from an environmental, but also social perspective—is affecting three key areas: the energy and resources industry, the financial services sector, and Government.
One of the key challenges with funding the climate transition is that many sustainable development projects, particularly emerging markets, are not commercially viable, due to high up-front costs and long pay-back periods.
By combining public and private capital through blended finance, it is possible to leverage public funding to help reduce the risk and lower the cost of capital for private investors.
This in turn can make it easier to attract further private investment in sustainable development projects.
Joining David Weston in this episode of Talking Transitions are:
Will Rhode, Global Private Equity ESG Leader at EYKara Mangone, Head of the Sustainable Finance Group at Goldman SachsKaren Fang, Global Head of Sustainable Finance for Bank of AmericaEmmanuel Lagarrigue, Co-Head of Global Climate Strategy at American investment firm KKR
