    181: Understanding Fear and Hate

What if everything you believed about strength, control, and certainty was actually driven by fear? In this episode, I dive deep into the hidden forces behind fear and hate—how they shape our beliefs, fuel rigid thinking, and make us cling to being "right" at all costs. I explore how fear of rejection, fear of imperfection, and fear of losing control create toxic cycles—both in our personal lives and in society. By breaking down the illusions of alpha behavior, control, and black-and-white thinking, I challenge you to step outside of these mental traps and embrace something much stronger: vulnerability, openness, and real connection. True strength doesn’t come from domination or certainty—it comes from the courage to listen, learn, and love without fear. What You’ll Get from This Episode: The truth about "alpha" behavior – If you have to prove you’re the alpha, are you really free? Or just trapped? Why control freaks are actually scared – The real reason some people micromanage everything. How fear of rejection drives everything – People-pleasing, avoidance, aggression—it’s all connected. Why families are breaking apart over politics – It’s not just “differences.” It’s survival and identity. The only real way out of this mess – Hint: It’s not control. It’s something much harder—and much stronger. By the end of this episode, you’ll be left with a new way of looking at yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Are you ready to question what you’ve always believed and step into a space of deeper understanding? 180: This is Holding You Back

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that life is way too short to play small. For years, I tried to fit into boxes—boxes that other people built for me. I worried about being “too much,” taking up “too much” space, or making people uncomfortable just by being who I am. Sound familiar? Here’s the thing: we are meant to take up space. We are meant to show up as our full, messy, complex, brilliant selves. And yet, so many of us hold back—whether it's because of fear, societal expectations, or just the weight of other people’s opinions.   That’s where this episode comes in. This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt like they had to shrink themselves to be accepted. It’s for anyone who's tired of overthinking, second-guessing, or dimming their own light just to make others comfortable. It’s for people who are ready to step fully into who they are—without apology, without hesitation, and without waiting for permission.  We’ll talk about:  Breaking free from expectations—whether they come from family, society, or our own self-doubt Building confidence—in how we speak, how we show up, and even how we dress Letting go of perfectionism—because spoiler alert: nobody has it all figured out Healing from generational cycles—what we’re keeping, what we’re unlearning, and how we move forward Navigating life’s big transitions—relationships, careers, personal growth, and everything in between Finding joy in self-expression—whether it’s through fashion, creativity, or just boldly saying this is me   We’ll have real conversations, plenty of laughs, and maybe even some uncomfortable truths—because growth isn’t always pretty, but it’s always worth it. So, if you’re done making yourself smaller to fit into a mold that was never meant for you… welcome. You are exactly where you belong… here! —  00:00 Overcoming Barriers to Freedom 00:41 Identifying Hidden Fears 02:22 Family Dynamics and Self-Limitation 05:24 Living Fully Despite Fear 11:33 The Journey of Self-Discovery 21:28 Parental Influence and Authenticity 27:32 Embracing Individuality and Potential 34:30 Embrace Your Capabilities  — Ready to dive even deeper? I’m opening up about my journey of breaking free from fear, judgment, and the pressure to live according to everyone else’s expectations. For years, I was scared to speak my truth and be my authentic self. I let others' opinions control my life, staying quiet and playing small. But enough is enough. Here’s what we’ll cover today: Facing the fear of judgment: The struggles of speaking out, being vulnerable, and putting myself out there. How I overcame the fear: After 52 years of hiding, I decided to show up, even if it makes people uncomfortable. Confronting the pressure to conform: The societal, family, and cultural pressures that tell us who we should be—and how I’m learning to break free from them. The toll of social media fighting: Why I believe arguing with strangers online is not only pointless but toxic to our mental and physical health. Taking real action instead of arguing: How to redirect that energy into something productive—like calling your representatives and making a difference where it counts. I’m also going to share how I’ve been working through my own fears, especially around menopause, and why I chose to be vulnerable about it. Let’s be real: sharing personal struggles isn’t easy, but it’s freeing. And if I can do it, so can you. By the end of this episode, I want you to ask yourself: What fears have you been holding onto that are blocking your freedom? What’s been keeping you from living your life the way you want to? It’s time to stop letting fear control us. Let’s break through those barriers together and start living authentically. Especially and even if you have health insurance, Medicaid or Medicare!...Meredyth Approved!  Welcome to the podcast episode where Jim and I are talking about blended family life and finances! Today we're diving into the importance of getting your finances in order when going through a divorce, especially when it comes to raising kids in a blended family. One of the biggest challenges of co-parenting in a blended family is managing the financial side of things. It's crucial to have a clear financial plan in place to avoid any unnecessary tension and conflict with your ex-partner. When you have a solid financial foundation, you can focus on what really matters - providing a stable and loving environment for your children. By getting your finances in order, you can avoid constantly asking your ex for money for small weekly expenses. This can put undue pressure on the relationship and create unnecessary stress for both parties. It's important to establish a system for shared expenses and set clear boundaries to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Having a financial plan in place also allows you to prioritize your children's needs and ensure that they are supported financially. By working together with your ex-partner to create a budget and financial plan or parenting plan and you can provide a consistent and secure environment for your children to thrive in. So, take the time to get your finances in order and set yourself up for success in co-parenting in a blended family. By doing so, you can focus on what really matters - creating a happy and healthy environment for your children to grow and thrive.
