  1. Wests Tigers Come Home Late To Beat Dolphins

Wests Tigers Come Home Late To Beat Dolphins

The Wests Tigers are sitting pretty in the NRL Top Eight after a second straight victory. Traveling north to Redcliffe, the Wests Tigers proved too strong for the home team, coming away with two vital points in a 30-18 victory. In this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson and Steve Stretton, and the encouraging signs from the game are covered. Aspects of the Tigers' play that made us happy include the multiple points of attack and the increasing synchronicity of the team. Sure, there were a few things still to work on, we also talked about that as well. We also run through a terrific list of 'One Word' submissions from our valued members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum (we'd love you to add to that list each game too!) Great display of teamwork. While the boys played as a unit, the individual performances of a few players are also discussed, including Jahream Bula, Fonua Pole, Terrell May, Alex Twal, Api Koroisau, and Tallyn Da Silva. We asked the question - is Sunia Turuva the best finisher we've had in a decade? And we played a new game - Was Garry Wrong? The topics in question include Garry's call on the abilities of Adam Doueihi and Alex Seyfarth! (Perhaps a version of this could be used re Eddie Otto and Bula??) Also up for discussion was the possible replacement for Jeral Skelton if he is unable to take on the Warriors next Sunday evening at Campbelltown. Speaking of Campbelltown, Steve has details of the pre-game Ambush event being held at The Beer Shed in Leumeah on Sunday afternoon (to which you are invited). And congratulations to the Wests Tigers on passing another big milestone - 9,000 people have now got Wests Tigers memberships and we think that's a great achievement, but still well short of where we should be. It's great to be able to present another post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, let's make it three on the trot against the Kiwis! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  2. The Difference Five Recruits Makes to Wests Tigers

    19 MAR

The Difference Five Recruits Makes to Wests Tigers

The mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is coming off the back fence like Royce Hunt! And speaking of Royce Hunt, the big boy from the Sharks has been joined at the Wests Tigers by four other genuine first-grade players. It's no surprise then that these five players are dominating our Geoff Chisholm Player of the Year Award voting on the Podcast Forum. It's also no surprise that these new players have managed to take Wests Tigers up a cog or two, and that's something we discuss on this edition of the pod. Joel Helmes is joined by Nick Hayes and Garry Watson on this edition, and asks - are the Wests Tigers no longer a terrible footy team? It doesn't sound too positive, but poor old Wests Tigers fans would probably be ok with being just plain ordinary for a bit! How to beat the Dolphins? We then shift our focus to this Saturday's big clash with the Redcliffe Dolphins on their home turf. What can we take away from both team's round two performances? Where do the Dolphins prove a threat? And where do Wests Tigers need to be better to win this one? And, of course, we look at the possible exclusion of Jahream Bula with an ankle injury, looking at how we might be able to cover that loss with Heath Mason. Yioti has chimed in with a really good version of his quiz where ex-Tigers including Shane Elford, Matt Utai, Matt Eisenhuth, and Elijah Taylor get a mention. And see how you go with a 'Who Am I?' that will bring back memories of a fan favourite from last decade. Don't forget those 'One Word' contributions too, we appreciate getting your responses and you entering the chat on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum!  Let's get these really important two points on Saturday night boys!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  3. Wests Tigers Put Eels to the Sword in Round Two

    16 MAR

Wests Tigers Put Eels to the Sword in Round Two

How great is it to see our Wests Tigers back in the winners circle! Round 2 of NRL Season 2025 has been completed and the Wests Tigers have their first victory of the season, smacking the hapless Eels 32-6. There can be a break down or two on the Wests Tigers Podcast, however the only break down this time around is breaking down a victory! Eddie Otto is joined by Declan McCutcheon, Nick Hayes and Garry Watson as they take a deep dive into the 26-point win over Parra at CommBank Stadium. Eddie looks at the 'one word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, and then the boys give their one-word answers. The team then discusses the differences in the Tigers between Round 1 and Round 2. Has Wests Tigers defense turned a corner? The boys put the improved defence we've seen so far this season under the microscope and ask is this a genuine improvement? Or is the significant drop in points conceded down to the quality of the opposition the Tigers have faced in the opening 2 rounds? There is also a conversation about individual player performance. Will any of the podcast team eat some humble pie with the improved performances on display yesterday? Not surprisingly, the performance of the Wests Tigers spine is also looked at, and the differences that we witnessed in style and execution compared to the loss to the Knights.  Finally, Eddie delivers a message for a former Wests Tigers player, who caught Eddie’s wrath this week? We'll give you a clue - he's not in the crocodile roll! Thank you for tuning in to another edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and what a pleasure it is to be talking about a victory. And a shout out to all the Wests Tigers fans leaving their 'one word' wrap up of each Tigers match on the forum, we appreciate it! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  4. Keeping Galvin and Bouncing Back Against the Eels

    12 MAR

Keeping Galvin and Bouncing Back Against the Eels

The Wests Tigers Podcast mid-week edition is good to go! On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we examine the unfolding developments regarding the future of Wests Tigers young star Lachlan Galvin. In the wake of Dylan Brown getting a truckload of cash to head up the M1 to the Knights, we look at how this deal might affect our negotiations. We also take a look at the situation from the perspective of the loyal Wests Tigers fans, and how Lachlan can be part of a solution, not continuing a problem. There is also contract news around David Klemmer and his impending exit from the club, and how this impacts the likely arrival of Taylan May. While a left-field recruitment idea is also floated. Then the focus is the Eels. It is only round two of the 2025 NRL season, yet this Sunday's clash against the Eels carries a feeling of great importance. After a clunky and disjointed performance against the Knights, can the Wests Tigers bounce back against an Eels side coming off a heavy loss? Benji Marshall has named a stronger side on paper, with key spine members Jahream Bula and Api Koroisau, along with Starford To'a, being available. But has the coach managed to fix those issues so evident last Friday night? We give our suggestions on how the Tigers can get one up against the Eels, and look at how Bula and Api might help get us back on track. Yioti's trivia also features. Yioti has gone back in the Wests Tigers archives to come up with some interesting Eels v Tigers trivia questions too. And don't forget to leave your 'One Word' submissions after the Eels game on Sunday afternoon on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. The one word submissions grow every game, but we'd love even more people to take part and share their thoughts on the game.  To do so, just head to the game-specific thread and, if you haven't already, sign up for a free account on our forum. Good luck Wests Tigers, let's beat those slimy Eels!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  5. How the Knights Got Another Win Over Wests Tigers

    9 MAR

How the Knights Got Another Win Over Wests Tigers

Wests Tigers started the 2025 NRL season on a losing note, succumbing to the Knights 10-8. The loss at Campbelltown Stadium in front of a healthy and revved up crowd makes it seven straight losses against the Newcastle side. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast we pull apart that Friday evening game and try to find exactly what went wrong. One of the items up for discussion is the clunkiness of the Jarome Luai and Lachlan Galvin halves partnership. What can be done to fix this? Did the club make a mistake not playing Luai in the trial against the Eels? And why we need to find some more depth in our attack. Also under the microscope is the poor kicking games exhibited by both halves. There's also a look at how the return of Api Koroisau, Starford To'a and Jerome Bula might help fix some of the offensive issues that we all witnessed on Friday. What happened to the defense? The statistics show that Wests Tigers missed a mammoth 52 tackles in the loss to the Knights, we try to investigate what happened and what can also be done here to remedy the issues. While it isn't all worries and concerns, we also highlight a few bright spots out of the game. Thank you to everyone who left their 'One Word' submissions on the game at the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. We run through all of those with a good mix of both pessimistic and optimistic feelings on where the Wests Tigers stand after another Knights loss. More roster changes? And we take a look at some impending changes to the roster with David Klemmer and Justin Olam potentially off the books as early as this week. While another former Panther might be about to join the Wests Tigers stable! Thanks for your support and we look forward to bringing you the next edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast mid-week. 6. Luai and Turuva Ready To Take On The Knights

    5 MAR

Luai and Turuva Ready To Take On The Knights

Wests Tigers will welcome seven new players tomorrow evening at Campbelltown Stadium. After months and months of waiting, Premiership winners Jarome Luai and Sunia Turuva will finally run out in our colours for the first time. Joining new buys Jack Bird, Terrell May, Jeral Skelton, Royce Hunt, and Tristan Hope, the premiership winning pair are a further welcome addition. On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel, Declan and Steve preview this big round one clash with the Knights. Where do the Tigers look to have an advantage, and what worries us about the Knights' lineup? What do the Tigers need to do to end the six-match winning streak the Knights hold over us? And we give our predictions on how the match will play out. Well done Wests Tigers media team. This podcast also features a response to the new 'Thrive or Survive' video posted by the club on YouTube yesterday. While certain members of the Wests Tigers Podcast have been a bit critical of the efforts of the media team at the club over the off-season, this is redemption. The video gives you an intimate, behind the scenes look at the players and coaches and would have to be one of the best productions we've seen from Wests Tigers. Congratulations to all involved, and we look forward to seeing future episodes. The return of the quiz! Yioti's Quiz is also back for this first in-season edition of the podcast with the quizmaster reminding us of some early moments in Benji Marshall's playing career, and names from the Wests Tigers past. And win, lose or draw, please don't forget to leave your one-word submissions on the Wests Tigers V Knights game on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Stay safe, especially if you're in a cyclone affected area, and enjoy the game! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
