Episode 27: Poderosa coding Chat con Lidia De La Cruz: “Rejection is Redirection”

Y’all!!! WE BACK ON THAT PODCAST FLOW: after some end of semester busy-ness, finals & some travels being OUTSIDE OUTSIDE — we are back INSIDE integrating, processing, & sharing some podcast goodness. Check out the new episode: CCCC Episode 27: Poderosa coding Chat con Lidia De La Cruz: “Rejection is Redirection” Lidia is a first gen, eldest daughter and afro latina born and raised in The Bronx, she recently pivoted into tech during the pandemic, she graduated from a coding bootcamp and embarked on her journey of becoming a Software Engineer and documenting her story as a Latina in Tech without a Computer Science Degree. She is a community builder and not gate keeping resources nor tips for women who want to break into tech. She has grown her internet community on IG called @poderosacoding where she provides content for folks wanting to transition into tech. We recored this gem in JANUARY during the New Year — though it might seem like a while ago — this is a PERFECT time to release this episode. We are in summer flow reconnecting with nature / the flow of life after winter months in the Northeast — in a way we are defrosting. We are also 6 months ish into the year — so what a perfect time to take stock of our goals and aspirations and reevaluate where we are at. Lidia mentioned she wanted to show up for in person events, speaking engagements, and panel discussions related to being Latina in Tech! Make sure you keep her in mind when booking someone to do these events and book her ASAP! Together we process imposter syndrome, pivoting careers, and making a commitment to support students who are underresourced & continue to be the minority in spaces such as the tech industry & higher education! Make sure you listen and let us know your fave part of the episode! And follow her on the socials! https://www.instagram.com/poderosacoding/?hl=en https://twitter.com/poderosacoding https://www.facebook.com/poderosacoding/videos/

Her story has been featured on CBS News, Univision, ABC News, Good Morning America, AL DÍA News, and Telemundo. 🇲🇽➡️🇺🇸Nataly immigrated to the U.S. from El Mezquital, Durango, Mexico, when she was 5. As the first person in her family to obtain a high school diploma in the U.S., a bachelor's, and now a master's, she firmly believes that education is liberation. A first-generation college student, she is passionate about connecting with underrepresented students and guiding them through professional development opportunities.
