    The Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire explained

    Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire after nearly 13 months of fighting. The agreement came into force yesterday and is "designed to be a permanent cessation of hostilities".  Over the next 60 days, both Israel and Hezbollah will be required to retreat from their current positions in order to meet the demands of the deal.     Headlines: Third Australian hospitalised in Laos after suspected poisoning

    The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has now officially come into effect.  A third Australian has been hospitalised with suspected methanol poisoning in Laos. NSW police have arrested two people over alleged money laundering linked to a series of scams and sextortion with as many as 300 victims. And in today’s good news, 17-year-old Sophia Park has become the youngest person to pass the bar exam to become a lawyer in the U.S. state of California.     Headlines: Push to delay social media ban

    Tech giants have urged the Australian Government to delay its under-16 social media ban. NSW Police have accepted a “historic” four-year pay deal after the police union reached an agreement with the State Government. Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to introduce a 25% tariff on goods from bordering nations Mexico and Canada on his first day back in the White House. And the good news: 13-year-old Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has secured a $200,000 contract to play in the Indian Premier League - their professional cricket.     Six dead in Laos: What is methanol poisoning?

    Two 19-year-olds from Melbourne are among six people to have died from a suspected methanol poisoning incident in Laos. Bianca Jones and Holly Bowles were visiting a tourist town in the Southeast Asian country when they fell ill. They were rushed to separate hospitals in Thailand, where they died late last week. Speaking after the death of his daughter, Mark Jones told media in Thailand that Bianca was enjoying “the trip of a lifetime with one of her best mates”.  The suspected poisoning has also claimed the lives of tourists from Denmark, the U.S. and the UK, in what’s now become a multi-national investigation. Authorities in Laos have conducted raids and detained some people for questioning, but no one has been charged. Today, we’ll take you through everything you need to know about this story.     Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles’ chief of staff is taking legal action against him for allegedly pushing her out of her job, after she complained of bullying in his office. Around 170 people have been arrested in Newcastle after anti-coal protesters formed a blockade to stop boats from entering the city’s port. Australia’s most decorated Olympian Emma McKeon has announced her retirement from swimming.     Victoria will roll out its first pill test at a music festival this summer. 35,000 people attending Beyond the Valley will have access to the drug-checking service for the first time, as part of the state government’s plans to conduct more trials across Victoria.
