    Anzac Day 2024

    Anzac Day 2024

This Anzac Day, I'd like to share the reading of a letter written to Miss Rose Harris of Clermont,  from her friend Elsie Grant.

The letter was written from France in 1917.

Their words echo through history,  to remind us of the enduring bonds of friendship during the harsh realities of war.

We honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our nation.

    Lest we forget.

Do It For Dolly Day - 2024

Do It For Dolly Day - 2024

Do It for Dolly Day is almost upon us once again.

Tick, Kate and Meg’s determination to build a better world in Dolly’s honour, never fails to amaze and inspire me.

This year’s campaign is firmly centred around Dolly’s own words….’Speak even if your voice shakes’.   The Everett’s hope these words will always remain a beacon of hope, courage, and strength for anyone experiencing bullying.
Let’s help them break the silence through education, inspiration and the power of shared experiences. Register a fundraiser or donate to Dolly’s Dream Australia and help bring more resources to fruition, expand the reach of the 24/7 support line and give thousands of young Australians the confidence to find their own voices.

Oh… and always remember to be KIND!

Gayle Shann - A Woman of Strength and Courage

Gayle Shann - A Woman of Strength and Courage

The 9th of August 2002 changed our family forever.

This was the day our beautiful sister-in-law Gayle became caught in the PTO shaft of a post-hole digger while building their garden fence with her husband Mac.

22 years on and both Mac and Gayle continue to amaze their family and friends with their incredible resilience, tenacity, grace and kindness.

They have both worked very hard – harder than most when you understand the processes they go through even before they start their day.

To say they are inspirational is an understatement and something they don’t particularly see – they’re too busy getting on with their lives.

There is certainly no time to look back to wonder why the accident had to happen and there are certainly no excuses in this camp.

As family, we are all so proud of them both.  I’m particularly grateful to Gayle for sitting down with me to share her story.

Thank you too, to Bec Fing and Heidi Smith, the power behind ‘RISE’ for so graciously supporting our interview.

I hope you enjoy hearing from this amazing woman.

    Jonnie Larmore - Cult Survivor

    Jonnie Larmore - Cult Survivor

Jonnie Larmore’s story is as fascinating as it is traumatic.

Jonnie was born into a cult called ‘The Children of God’ or ‘The Family International’, as it later became known.

While its origins in 1968 were relatively conservative, under evangelist David Berg’s leadership it quickly grew into an authoritarian cult engaging in the physical and sexual abuse of its children.

At one point, ‘The Family’ had more than 30,000 followers across the world including the Phoenix family and Jeremy Spencer of Fleetwood Mac fame.

Rates of drug addiction and suicide are well-known in children who grow up in cults.

Jonnie however, has been able to move past his early childhood trauma to make a success of his life.

Up until recently, he was an active member of the Special Emergency Response Team.  SERT is the highly secretive police team which protect the public against everything from terrorism threats to sieges and hostage situations.

Having met Jonnie, I know we are in safe hands!

Many thanks to my sponsor for this interview, Bennett and Co Financial.

The Man Who Taught Superman to Fly

The Man Who Taught Superman to Fly

    ‘Everything is possible’.

This is the motto my guest today lives his life by.  He is easily one of the most inspirational men I have had the pleasure of chatting with.

Perry Cross has a unique gift to motivate people through his words, his actions, and his humour.     He is certainly no ordinary man.

With a string of awards to his name, he is known worldwide as a role model for the human spirit overcoming the odds.

His organisation, ‘The Perry Cross Foundation’, is on the cusp of finding a cure for paralysis.

After our interview, I was filled with a tremendous sense of power, feeling like I could achieve anything.  This is what Perry does for you.

I hope you enjoy the story of Perry’s incredible life.

    Animals Fiji - Casey Quimby

    Animals Fiji - Casey Quimby

When we visited Fiji last year,  I found the stray animal population confronting.

While we were on the way to our beautiful resort, I googled 'animal shelters', to see if someone was helping these poor, sorry strays and came upon 'Animals Fiji'.

Animals Fiji is a very well-respected shelter which, under the expert care of its founder, Casey Quimby, not only takes care of stray animals, but also provides animal welfare education to people,  and veterinary care to animals in need.

I hope you enjoy hearing Casey's story and will feel moved to support the shelter,  who rely solely on donations and the kindness of people like you.

Their website has a sponsor button which makes it easy to support an animal in need that otherwise has no hope.
