Passage of Prop K means portion of Great Highway will close for good

San Francisco will permanently close off a two mile stretch of the Great Highway after Proposition K passed with 54 percent of the vote last week. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland has offered to create a trust worth more than $100-Million dollars to settle lawsuits filed by victims of clergy sexual abuse. California's efforts to reduce the public's exposure to chemicals known to cause health problems like cancer and birth defects seem to be working.
