This whole idea is a social superpower that will facilitate the life you want. In this podcast we share some personal experiences we wish we knew as a teen now that Lauren and I are adults. We want to help you navigate your way thru this life and we believe in the skills associated with emotional intelligence will benefit you tremendously. We also recommend a book by Joyce Meyer, called "Living Beyond Your Feelings." These books help guide what it makes to make right decisions even when you don't feel like it. We encourage you in this podcast to adopt the goal of being SMARTER than your feelings! We believe you can do it! In this podcast we encourage teens to be aware of their emotions and gain insight into how their feelings relate to reality. Mental health is adjusting to reality. When you aren't able to adjust to reality your mental health declines. Your emotional health is important! Gain insight into managing this aspect of being human and consider it a BIG GAIN to your future! How do you manage emotional stress in a constructive way? *Another recommended read is "13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do," by Amy Morin.

5. Empowering Financial Basics

Whoa girls, who knew money would be such a BIG subject later on?! That's why Lauren and I are here to help give you a heads up! We have had our share of mistakes and lessons.. for sure! Let us be real and help you thrive in this area, as the saying goes; "Money doesn't grow on trees!" You got that right sister! And it definitely doesn't come easy at times and let's be real being a simple human is expensive! Haha! Some even go from living with mom and dad without a mortgage, utilities, car payment to boop having the whole sha bang to be responsible for. Oh and did I mention groceries and gas? Hopefully you will have a smoother transition than what we explained, but in case you won't or didn't and need some help, listen in! Having a budget based on your income and bills is the starting point and updating continually is essential. As a teen it's important to understand your expectations of living and how you see your future in terms of how much it will cost you. For example, do you see yourself wanting to take a trip a year? Do you hope to live in a big spacious house with children? Do you want to stay home with your children and be a stay at home mama? What are your mindsets on money? How were you raised? How much money do you feel you'd like to live comfortably? How do you view $ in light of your emotions? How do you feel this may influence your decisions for good or bad? Are you a spender or saver?
