Ologies with Alie Ward
Volcanoes. Trees. Drunk butterflies. Mars missions. Slug sex. Death. Beauty standards. Anxiety busters. Beer science. Bee drama. Take away a pocket full of science knowledge and charming, bizarre stories about what fuels these professional -ologists' obsessions. Humorist and science correspondent Alie Ward asks smart people stupid questions and the answers might change your life.

Hospital listenings

I found Ologies just before I started really struggling with my health this autumn. The backlog has really helped entertain me through hospital stays and sick days at home when all I’ve been able to do is listen and lay there with my eyes closed. Overall the podcast’s great and I love Alie’s amazing approach to learning new things every single episode 🙌🏻
I just keep on learning with this podcast

I love this podcast but I will not give five stars to it as long as you keep listing the names of patreons who have asked questions. It’s really annoying.
Expert Alieologist Review

I found Ologies this summer and was immediately in love. I have blown through the entire backlog and am now eagerly awaiting new episodes. PEOPLE, this show will delight and shock you, bring tears to your eyes and make you snort in joy on public transport resulting in awkward eye contact with Finns. Alie manages to evoke a curiosity and wonder at the world I haven’t felt since I was a child. She is also utterly human and honest in her production of this podcast, making it feel so approachable, accessible, and reassuring. I am such a poddad fan that I have decided to dub myself an Alieologist - a super fan and supporter of Alie’s genius and work at making us all nerdier nerds and more curious creatures. P.S. I’ve always thought that Alie just talks super fast, but I realized only today that I have been playing Ologies on 1.5 speed since the beginning. Now I have returned to normal speed so that I can savor Ologies a bit longer.
To my Dadward

I’m quite new listener, but I love this podcast and all of the episodes I’ve run into so far! I love finding new interesting sciences that I would have never imagined would be so interesting. I hope I run into some linguistic ologies episodes too. And the host is amazing. It’s so nice that she reads all these reviews. I hope all the best for you, Alie! In Finland we say ”tsemppiä” which means kind of good luck but also like ”good fighting spirit” or something, from Swedish word kämpa ’fight’. So, tsemppiä! Take all the time you need with your family!
