Carl Unegbu looks at situations faced by today’s comedy heavyweights down to those like Lenny Bruce, who led the vanguard of edgy comedy in years past. Or the late Gary Shandling who fought his manager Brad Grey over millions of dollars that Grey was taking from three different roles as half owner of Shandling’s hit show, producer of the show and manager for the comedian’s writing and acting fees. A clear contract in the beginning would have forestalled a lot of grief. 
But the author also addresses the issues faced by some who are not in the strata of a superstars on television or Vegas stages with millions at stake. The lessons here are for anyone of the front line of comedy. For example, radio show personality Jim Norton on the Opie and Anthony Showgot into an argument with a caller, and called him stupid and some other things much worse. The guest sued him. Unegbu looks at the law and whether a defamation suit can stand in court in such circumstances.  
Each chapter is a case study offered in layman’s terms in what the law allows and what the comedian should know before committing to agreements or content that could dangerously toe the line.
