    Where’s the Color?

Grace is back after a less than stellar week in Mets baseball. She gets into the Mets recent woes, and some of the biggest problems they’re currently facing, both in terms of offense and pitching. She also gets into the recent news that Nike will be fixing the jersey problems, what they’ll be doing and how embarrassing all this has been.
Then, Grace gives her ranking of the City Connect jerseys, now that the Mets and Rays jerseys have been released. She gets into what differentiates a great jersey from a good one and what the cardinal sin of jerseys are (and how to avoid boring jersey design problems) in her eyes, at least.
Finally, Grace has a very new movie minute, a brand new release that Grace can’t stop raving about, and the ideal format to see it in (because of course the ideal place to see it is always the movie theater).

    There are other options

    There are other options

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin with a discussion about the starting rotation—the strong work by José Quintana and Luis Severino the past couple of days and also Adrian Houser’s struggles. Though Carlos Mendoza has said Houser’s spot is safe for the time being, we wonder if the Mets’ hand will be forced given the other options they have; Christian Scott is knocking down the door to the major leagues, Tylor Megill and David Peterson are rehabbing, and even Joey Lucchesi has a good ERA in Syracuse.
We also celebrate the work that the bullpen has done lately, despite the roster churn due to injuries, including the continued emergence of Reed Garrett as a legitimate high leverage reliever and the return of Sean Reid-Foley. We also shout out Mark Vientos for his first huge moment as a Met—his walk-off home run on Sunday.
Next, we talk about the league’s plans to rectify the Nike/Fanatics jersey fiasco, as Brandon Nimmo—poster child for the jersey revolution—laments the fact that the Mets cannot wear their blue or black alternate jerseys because they do not have the pants.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

    Mat Rudick is back baby

    Mat Rudick is back baby

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system.
Mark Vientos just had a signature moment, so we discuss some other signature home runs from ahem marginal Mets 1B prospects of years past. For whatever reason, that Mike Jacobs debut home run still sticks in all of our memories, even 15 years on.
For draft updates, Carson Benge is pulling away from the rest of the field in our eyes, especially after a five-homer week. The most recent BA mock draft has him going to the Mets at 19, a result we’d all be extremely pleased with.
There was a long list of things to discuss in the system this week as well. The rotation picture is about to get more crowded with both David Peterson and Tylor Megill starting rehab assignments and Christian Scott continuing to dominate Triple-A. With Adrian Houser struggling and a long stretch without off days coming up, a six-man rotation complete with some new faces might make sense. We Ryan Clifford’s weird line in Brooklyn (get him to Binghamton please), Jonah Tong’s continued dominance in Single-A, the unfortunate Nate Lavender news, and, most importantly, Mat Rudick breaking out of his early season funk.

    West Coast Fallout

Welcome to Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, the new/old favorite from Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore.
The Mets played .500 ball against the Dodgers and Giants, and now are welcoming J.D. Martinez to the team as they return to the East Coast. Brian and Chris discuss that as well as talk about the rotation's lack of innings, the upper minors pitching depth, and Wilpon PTSD.
    Chris’s Music Pick:
Wanda Jackson - The Party Ain't Over
    Brian’s Music Pick:
Descendents - Milo Goes to College

Grace is back after a very exciting week of Mets baseball. She discusses the many highs, and a significant low, of the past seven days of Mets games. She also gets into the latest updates regarding Shohei Ohtani and his interpreter Ippei Mizuhara’s gambling scandal.
Then she gets into another case of draconian laws levied at queer people this, time from Kansas. The proposed bill would mandate ID for viewing content deemed “harmful to minors” online, and the definition of such content includes homosexuality. She breaks down the intentional vagueness of the language, how impossible it may be to actually enforce, and what ripple effects such legislation can and usually does have.
Finally, Grace has a somewhat unorthodox movie minute (by her standards). She’s gotten very into ESPN’s 30 for 30 series as of late, and she gives her recommendations for great selections from the first volume of documentaries.
