(4-29 Joe Show full episode with Joe Starkey, Paul Zeise, and Bob Pompeani)
We begin with the Steelers overall draft. Joe says this is his favorite Steelers draft that he can remember. Paul says there is some nastiness that they brought in that reminded him of the old Steelers. Joe loves the Payton Wilson pick even though he has some injury concerns. Will Caleb McCormick start this year? Favorite picks of theirs include Roman Wilson and Zach Fraizer. Bob says that all the quarterbacks taken helped the Steelers a lot in how the board fell to them in round one. Paul says this was a "meat and potatoes" draft. Has Bob ever been in a fight? Bob has not and says he tries to avoid physical conflict at all costs.
Rhett Lewis of NFL Network says that Payton Wilson will win Defensive Rookie of the Year and Roman Wilson will win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Bob says it will be hard for Roman to win with how many quarterbacks that were drafted to win the award. What else do the Steelers need to focus on? The panel agrees corner and defensive tackle are still positions of weakness. Is bringing back Cam Sutton a good idea?
Reviewing local golf courses and what ones the guys have been on or would like to get on to. A dive into what teams other than the Steelers in the AFC North have done in the draft. Paul thinks that even though the Ravens lost a lot, they are still the team to beat. Joe believes the Bengals are the new team to beat in division. Pending the resolving issues of Tee Higgins and Tre Hendrickson, he thinks the arrow for them is way up. The panel agrees the Browns are on the way down as the Deshaun Watson trade continues to cement itself as one of the worst trades in NFL history.
The show comes back and Joe is alone. Bob returns and tells Joe that he will never be able to call in to his show on Saturdays again. There is a "plan in place" by Joe to get around it. Switching over to the Michael Penix pick by the Falcons. What were they thinking? Which of the quarterbacks taken this year will still be on their team in 2026? Buffalo traded out of the first round pick with the Chiefs, the one team they cannot beat. What in the world were they thinking?
A Bob Pompeani Showdown! The Penguins, Pirates, and more as Joe and Paul battle it out in the showdown.
Bill Belichick has a personality? The guys discuss his appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and the stories he told. Sportsnet Pittsburgh has a new streaming package out, how much has TV changed over the years from Cable TV to Streaming?
The NFL wants 18 games. Is it possible the NFL goes to 19 or even 20 games at one point? A look forward at what quarterbacks the Steelers will be facing at Acrisure Stadium later this year.
