    #1: Moments of Connection

In “Retronify”, I seek to create a space where authentic and mindful living can be reimagined. I will share with you more than just text and sound—lasting insights from the great thinkers, interwoven with reflections on modern life. My aim, amidst the speed and complexity of daily life, is to provide a brief moment of pause, offering an opportunity to find balance between simplicity and the intuition hidden within 🌿. Together, we walk this path, embarking on a journey toward mindful living, returning to the roots that, behind their simple appearance, conceal an ocean of wisdom. ⛓️‍💥In this weekly pause * 🎭Momentary * 💭The Significance of Dreams in Self-Knowledge * ⚡️Hidden Opportunities in Daily Struggles * 🎬"Killing Time" Listen to the audio version of this newsletter on the “Retronify” podcast on Apple Podcast, Spotify or platforms. 🎭 Momentary At the break of dawn, Paul awoke with fragments of a vivid dream still clinging to his consciousness. In his dreams, he traversed an infinite labyrinth, each corridor echoing the depths of his subconscious. Last night, a shadowy figure had whispered, “Your truth lies within the pauses of your waiting.” As he sipped his morning coffee, the banal rhythm of his routine transformed. The office, once a gray expanse of monotony, now mirrored the intricate passages of his nocturnal journeys. During a particularly tedious meeting, Paul recalled the labyrinth and felt a newfound patience settle over him. Each repetitive moment became a deliberate step toward self-discovery, each silence a doorway to introspection. Nights became sanctuaries where dreams interlaced seamlessly with his waking life. Paul began to see waiting not as an empty void, but as a fertile space for inner growth. A chance conversation with a colleague, inspired by a dream’s insight, led to a meaningful connection that had previously eluded him. One evening, standing alone by his window, Paul contemplated the delicate interplay between his dreams and reality. The labyrinth was no longer just a dreamscape but a metaphor for his existence—complex, enigmatic, yet profoundly interconnected. Embracing the existential truth that his essence was shaped by his experiences, Paul found solace in the uncertainty. Each dream became a fragment of his evolving reality, guiding him toward a deeper understanding of himself and the world around him. In the stillness of waiting, Paul understood that his true self emerged, woven delicately between dreams and the fabric of everyday life. 💭 The Significance of Dreams in Self-Knowledge Dreams go beyond fleeting images or abstract thoughts; they are a key to deeper self-understanding. They can uncover our inner nature, hint at our destiny, and reflect the desires of our soul. When dreams fail to provide this insight, it can feel unsettling because they are often seen as crucial to personal growth and self-awareness. Since dreaming occupies a significant part of our lives, seeking dreams rich in meaning and intensity isn't just about beauty—it's about deepening our understanding of reality. The connection between our waking and dreaming lives suggests that what we experience in dreams can offer valuable lessons for our conscious life. The importance of dreams lies in their ability to unlock the subconscious and offer insights often hidden during waking moments. By seeing dreams as a path to self-knowledge, we can use them to uncover personal truths, shape decisions, and reflect on our life's direction. Given the time we spend dreaming, improving the quality and depth of our dreams can enrich our lives, blending the conscious and unconscious into a more unified understanding of ourselves. Dreams have always been understood as a source of self-knowledge, a vector by which to unveil one’s nature and God-given fate, a means by which the unencumbered soul wanders out into the world. If my dreams reveal little to me, it is troubling. Dreams are experienced during the two hours a night we’re in REM sleep. This means we spend a 12th of our time dreaming - or a whole month a year. Finding ways to increase their majesty, romance, depth, intensity, and profundity seems a worthy ambition. This would not merely be an aesthetic achievement: dreams have a deeper significance. Our waking lives are not so different from a dream. In search of lost dreams ⚡️ Hidden Opportunities in Daily Struggles The life's uncomfortable or mundane moments—like enduring a dull meeting or witnessing someone’s illness—are more than mere inconveniences. These experiences, though challenging, provide opportunities for growth, self-reflection, and deeper connection with others. Instead of simply tolerating these moments, we can use them to daydream, anticipate future joys, or take time to listen more closely to loved ones. These situations encourage us to pause and confront our own thoughts and emotions, making them valuable spaces for personal development and insight, rather than just interruptions in daily life. Being human means coping with those in-between moments, when we must do what is uneasy or uncomfortable, from tolerating a boring meeting, to bearing witness to another’s illness, to simply being stuck on a bus. But all these experiences present opportunities, as well as challenges—to daydream, to anticipate pleasure, to listen to a loved one, or confront our own selves. The Lost Art of Waiting 🎬 Now "Killing Time" "Killing Time" is a 1-minute short film shot entirely on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Filmed in just 90 minutes and edited on the same day, the project demonstrates that you don't need expensive gear to tell engaging stories—just an iPhone and a group of friends. Written, directed, shot, and edited by Josiah Selvig, the film stars Jace Hardwick and Josh Rathbun. It's a testament to the creative potential of mobile filmmaking. 🌈 Cherishing Your Support Thank you for being part of this journey toward mindful living and a deeper connection with yourself.
