The holidays can be challenging especially with triggers and food. This episode to help you deal with these challenges definitely comes from experience and my heart.
Welcome to Episode 86 of the Emotional Eats Podcast!
Managing emotional triggers, food, and interactions with family and friends during the holidays is a topic that comes up for my clients and I want to help you, too.
While this episode is holiday-themed, its insights are valuable year-round, as triggers can arise at any time. You can use these tips for so many situations.
I explore how comments from others—whether about food, eating habits, or body image—can open old wounds, create tension, and lead to emotional eating. These triggers often stem from unmet childhood needs, high expectations, or a desire to please others, all of which can resurface in social settings.
This episode covers common triggering comments, such as judgments about weight or food choices, and how these moments can elicit shame or guilt. My desire is to help you have self-awareness and empower you to respond with resilience rather than react impulsively with words or food.
Stay tuned because I offer tips to deal with these uncomfortable conversations and I encourage you to let go of external validation, embrace your current self, and replace feelings of inadequacy with affirmations of worthiness.
Remember, you hold the power to own your thoughts, embrace your life, and cultivate the peace you deserve.
Wishing you peace and joy this holiday season!
XOXO,
Kim
