Episode 19 - She’s Got The Whole World in Her Hands: Other People Devaluing Your Diagnosis, Binge Eating and Why You Turn Cold

Episode 19 - She’s Got The Whole World in Her Hands: Other People Devaluing Your Diagnosis, Binge Eating and Why You Turn Cold

In this episode I discuss how common it is to come across other people who devalue your ADHD diagnosis, and how to overcome this. I also talk about binge eating and drinking, and how this has changed since being on the medication. I end the podcast by delving into what exactly makes me go ‘cold’ with somebody and how expectations can make me crumble. There’s a ripper of an analogy in there too 🙌.

Episode 18 - The ‘Impressive’ Lack of Ability To Learn From One’s Mistakes, Distractibility, and Living in a Self-Created Internal Universe

Episode 18 - The ‘Impressive’ Lack of Ability To Learn From One’s Mistakes, Distractibility, and Living in a Self-Created Internal Universe

In this episode, I discuss my complete inability to ever learn from my mistakes and my *ground breaking* (Definitely a personal opinion!) discoveries as to why this is. I delve deeper into my emotional needs, how I react when they aren’t met, and my brain’s automatic response to ‘fill the void’. I speak lots about dissociation and how this reflex response is my self-protection defence, often causing the issues in my life to metastasise and blow up!

Episode 17 - FOMO and Always Jumping From One To The Next

Episode 17 - FOMO and Always Jumping From One To The Next

In this episode, I discuss how I often will jump from one relationship or excitement to the next, due to my irrational fear of being alone and an incapability to relax. I also talk about how I always want what everyone else has and how I’m a sucker for peer pressure and FOMO!

Episode 16 - Relationships: The Continual Need to Please Others, Irrespective of the Detriment To Yourself

Episode 16 - Relationships: The Continual Need to Please Others, Irrespective of the Detriment To Yourself

In this episode I dive into relationships and the continual need to please others. Losing yourself, seeking more excitement, becoming unsettled, learning to say NO, and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) are some of the sub-topics that I cover within this umbrella. I talk about my own experiences and what happens to me when the butterflies begin to dissipate and the rose-tinted glasses lose their tint! This episode has some themes that people may find uncomfortable, as I discuss how some relationships we seek that keep us ‘on our toes’, can be abusive or detrimental to our own health.

Episode 15 - The ADHD Psychic… Having an Acute Awareness of the Feelings of Others; Sensing Their Unconscious Emotional Withdrawals, Frustrations and Tensions From Within

Episode 15 - The ADHD Psychic… Having an Acute Awareness of the Feelings of Others; Sensing Their Unconscious Emotional Withdrawals, Frustrations and Tensions From Within

In this episode I discuss the EXHAUSTING world of having an ‘emotional sixth sense’: the capability to read those around you so astutely, often before they have registered their thoughts and feelings themselves. I talk about the vicious cycle in which you can end up in - your hypersensitivity making others’ withdraw, which in turn makes you hyper-reactive, and so forth, until the situation becomes unbearable - and how the ADHDer’s constant mood swings and emotional overloads can become too much for people to handle. I express myself through certain analogies involving coconuts, hyenas, and a certain wizard in an invisibility cloak. I also give an absolute solid reason for why I should win an Oscar (or 12)! Episode 14 - The Seven Stages of… ADHD - What Happens When The Dust Settles

Episode 14 - The Seven Stages of… ADHD - What Happens When The Dust Settles

In this episode I discuss the ever-changing process after getting a diagnosis of ADHD, and the different stages you go through afterwards… Like the seven stages of grief, there are also many stages of emotions, post-diagnosis. There are many analogies used to help me communicate my feelings and experiences, most of which are linked to dinosaurs (sorry!). I share my current hyper-fixation with ADHD and what my next steps are, my lack of order (or abundance of chaos), and many other quirks surrounding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Enjoy!
