Ari Wallach on How To Longpath So That We Go Far and We Go Together

Newton Talks - The Management & Consultancy Podcast for Curious Minds

In this episode American futurist Ari Wallach introduces Longpath, an applied mindset he uses to cultivate future conscious thinking and behaviour and also the title of his new book, Longpath: Becoming the Great Ancestors Our Future Needs – An Antidote for Short-Termism.

During this conversation, Ari and Julie discuss this period of great change we’re in, what Ari calls the ‘intertidal’, and the opportunity this offers. Ari outlines the three pillars for cultivating a better tomorrow – telos (the ultimate aim), futures thinking, and transgenerational empathy – and urges Julie, and us listeners, to move away from short-termism and to embrace long-term thinking, in and out of the boardroom.

In encouraging us to think 50, 100, even 200 years in the future, Ari delineates what it means to be a great ancestor, one that keeps future generations in mind with every decision that we make. He shows us how going fast means going alone, while going far requires going together.
