Arjun Murti is a Partner, Energy Macro and Policy, at Vertien.
Previously, Arjun spent over 30 years on Wall Street as a sell-side equity research analyst, buy-side investor, advisor and board member covering the global energy sector. Since November 2021, Arjun has published Super-Spiked, a Substack newsletter and podcast about the energy transition. He spent 15 years of his career at Goldman Sachs. He retired from Goldman Sachs in 2014, after serving as Co-Director of Americas Equity Research in addition to his responsibilities as an equity research analyst. Prior to joining Goldman in 1999, Arjun was a buy-side Equity Research Analyst at J.P. Morgan Investment Management. His career began in 1992 at Petrie Parkman & Co, a Denver-based oil & gas boutique investment bank. Arjun currently serves as a Director on the Board of ConocoPhillips, a Senior Advisor to the Energy Group at Warburg Pincus and an Advisory Board member for Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, ClearPath, and the India Advisory Board at The Nature Conservancy.
In this conversation, Arjun and Scott take a wide-ranging view of energy, in particular the energy transition, and why both believe none of it will go as is being forecast by mainstream outlets. It's going to be bumpy, and if we're not careful, outright dangerous.
