    7 Up (at the Wrong End)!

    This week’s Pod Squad comprised a trio of Andys including the lesser spotted Andy Bravery and making his (Zoom pod) debut, Wedge aka Andy Gresty, plus Andy Bass and of course the only 100% man over these 407 pods, Russell G. We wanted to just talk about the weather and the price of fish but felt obligated to discuss something of an aberration by The Trent as Forest, spearheaded by the most nominatively deterministically named player in history, Chris Wood, felled Albion’s severely depleted charges to the tune of 7-0. Also under discussion was an eventful transfer window that marginally strengthened this season’s squad with ins (Gomez and Cashin) but weakened it with outs (Fergie, Moder and Enciso), plus other future planning business and some other sales and releases. Loads to talk about so it was another bumper episode.     Russ and Pete popped down The Glad (been too long again!) and were delighted to be joined by Dogma’s finest James and Parker, to reflect on the Everton game and to big up the latest edition of the ‘zine (the world’s finest, don’t you know!) the upcoming charity game at Woodside Road, the fresco and mural culture around the town and their magnificent selection of merch’. There’s also an engrossing chat about Albion head coach philosophies and why ‘Supermarket Trolley’ should return!     Non League Special: Maidstone v Worthing

    Russ and Pete saw Everton were heading for the coast and thought “sod that!”, electing to follow The Mighty Rebels’ fixture over in Kent, in an important promotion six-pointer. Surprise, surprise, the Everton game turned out to be a typically turgid, anti-footballing affair while The Stones v Rebels clash was entertaining and fun. R&P obviously took the opportunity to sample some of the local quaffables pre and post match and had the pleasure to sit down for a chat with some local fans, including Paul, who kindly agreed to have us record our conversation. All in all a good day out and a terrible PL abomination of a game cunningly avoided!     Threes! Man Utd Review

    Yes it’s all about the threes! Another three points as we complete three successive wins at Old Trafford, under three different managers, completing three wins in a row, which happen to all be away wins within the space of one week! Happy days! Albion made their superiority count as they came away with all three points yet again from the Theatre of Leaks. In this episode Russ and Pete were zooming, with plenty of reflections on the game, but only after we heard from our northern correspondence Alastair and Nick, who gave us their thoughts while at the game for a mini MDS. Pete was also in attendance and he seemed very pleased to have been so.     Solly!!! Canaries Cup MDS & Review

    We are UP FOR THE CUP! And we really were on Saturday, riding an early threat from Norwich to eventually romp home 0-4. A great day out, a great performance and some fantastic positives to be taken from the game, including a welcome return for Danny Welbeck, a welcome and sensational appearance from the bench for Solly March, some really good goals including an overdue strike for Julio Enciso and last but by absolutely no means least, a first team debut for young Albion centre back Ruairi McConville, who came on and acquitted himself really well. Russ spoke to his dad and younger brother in the away end at the end of the match and found both family members to be delighted and extremely proud of Ruairi’s debut. Also on the pod we heard from two Davids, Chris, Sam, Molly, Caroline, Will and Clive. So next up, an immediate return to East Anglia with a visit to Portman Road in the Prem.
