Chile en Liverpool - Music & Memories / Música & Memorias
In this series of podcasts, University of Liverpool academics explore the Institute of Popular Music's archive, and, in particular, the Robert Pring-Mill collection of Latin American 'canciones de lucha y esperanza'; 'songs of hope and struggle'. This includes sound recordings, posters, albums and ephemera from Chile by artists such as Víctor Jara and Violeta Parra. Podcast episodes will explore different aspects of memory and well-being, using archives for intergenerational musical reminiscences, the work of IPM musicologist Jan Fairley and the Merseyside Chile Solidarity Campaign.

Fascinating pilot episode

Thank you for this. Loved your guests, the project and all the music you played. It took me all the way back to my childhood and family home in Mexico. This music travelled all over the Americas and it is beautiful to know that Robert Pring-Mill’s collection keeps part of it alive on this side of the Atlantic. Congrats on the podcast. I will be looking forward to listening to your future episodes.
