Praise the Lord You Can Trust (Psalm 146)

Praise the Lord You Can Trust (Psalm 146)

Where do you put your hope and trust? Do you trust in influential, inspiring leaders who promise to make change in the world? Although many people will try to do great things, Psalm 146 warns us not to place our "trust in princes, in human beings who cannot save". While not obvious at first sight, Psalm 146 paints a clear picture of Jesus and you can put your trust in Him! Listen in as guest speaker and mission partner, Connor Perring teaches from Psalm 146.

Praise to the King (Psalm 145)

Praise to the King (Psalm 145)

King David was a great monarch, he was described as "a man after God's own heart" and led his people well. But in this Psalm that King David wrote, he doesn't point to his own greatness or the fame of his kingdom. Instead David points to a better king and a better kingdom. He points to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords Jesus Christ, who's kingdom is without end. In response to such a King and kingdom, David gives praise to the King who's "greatness no one can fathom".

Rooted in Praise (1 Chronicles 15 and 16)

Do you ever feel a disconnect from the words you sing in worship? Like the nearly extinct Regent Honeyeater that has forgotten  it's birdsong, have you lost the song of the gospel? In this sermon, we look at the rejoicing of Israel as the Ark of the covenant entered Jerusalem. We learn that the joy of the Lord can be expressed without worry when we recognize the glorious King we serve! May we be Christians who remember our song of praise to the Lord!

Rooted in Prayer (1 Chronicles 13 and 14)

Rooted in Prayer (1 Chronicles 13 and 14)

How do I find the will of God? Is it through the Bible, prayer, something else? These are not only questions for our day but they were also questions people had 2,000 years ago. In chapters 13 and 14 of 1 Chronicles the author shows what happened when David failed to enquire of God and what happened when he did. While David's decision to bring the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem seemed wise, it proved to have deadly consequences. Consequences that could have been avoided had David enquired of the Lord. So how does that relate to us? Will God break out in anger if we fail to find His will? Listen in as we discover the link between God's will, our Saviour, and the confidence we may have to enquire of God.

Rooted in Mercy (1 Chronicles 12)

Rooted in Mercy (1 Chronicles 12)

History is filled with people who have defected from one side to the other, they have changed alliances and have found a new identity and purpose. This week we continue our series in 1 Chronicles as we look at the relatives of King Saul who defected from his camp to follow their future king; King David. But why would someone choose to change sides? Are things really that bad where they are now? What is the draw on the other side? In exploring these questions we discover the many similarities this story in 1 Chronicles 12 has with our lives today, and why someone would defect from the kingdom of this world to the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
