Brilliant, insightful, and intense

I’ve been listening to this on and off over the past year, and found it extremely interesting as a journalism student at the time of writing (April 2024). Local Politics is something I find to always get overshadowed by the larger political conversations - the same way in the UK as the US, I find. But John Sheridan and his wife were killed in such a horrible manner that it forces us to shine a light on the lesser discussed parts of local politics. I can only hope their killers are put to justice! Nancy Solomon is a brilliant host, and takes us along a ride in an almost beautiful tapestry of audio snippets, monologue and music. Amazing stuff from WNYC!

Dead End is riveting

This is such a fine and brave piece of investigative journalism. Layer after layer of inconsistencies in the original explanation for the killings is revealed, and the context of power and corruption in New Jersey is built up. You can’t leave this series without feeling that justice has NOT been done, that the murders point to something frightening and brutal in the structure of power in NJ. I hope there will be another set of episodes.
Great podcast!

I got so sucked into this story, I now wait impatiently for Tuesdays - and I don’t even know much about local US politics as I live in the UK. Radiolab brought me here! Nancy Solomon is fantastic.
