The Folklore of Metals: Gold, Silver, Iron & Copper
Different metals are often baked into mythology. Look at griffins and dragons with their hoard of gold. Or Bellerophon's use of molten lead to kill the deadly chimera. According to legend, people paid for their passage to the underworld with coins placed over their eyes.
But how do different metals turn up in folklore? Why is iron such a protective metal, while silver has a whole range of uses? How has copper become so useful to modern medicine?

Brilliant, bite-sized folklore and legend
A fantastic folklore podcast. Concise, well-researched and Icy Sedgwick is a terrific guide through the weird and mysterious.
Holds interest without need for gimmicks
I learnt a lot about folklore of the UK from it. Even better, Icy holds your interest just by sharing her passion for the subject. She doesn’t use, nor need, music or sound effects.
Perfect Folklore Tellings
This one will go down as folklore it’s self. Simply a wonderful telling of folklore origins. Icy has a way of delivering these podcasts as snippets and teasers into the world. You don’t need a recommendation from me - just get in there and listen!!
