    Ep 78 - Derby Gaol Part 1

This time out you join me in the city of Derby which is apparently the best place in the world to drink real ale, it’s the home of Rolls Royce, as well, of course, this episode’s location. Dating back to 1756 this place witnessed the very worst of humanity, and as a result it believed to be home to all manner of things that go bump in the night.
Lets’ ask together, as I’m joined by the Richard Felix, who owns this historic landmark, and we ask just how haunted is Derby Gaol?
Huge thank you to Richard Felix for joining me and you can find his website over at www.richardfelix.co.uk.

    Ep 77 - Flodden Field

    Ep 77 - Flodden Field

This time you join me in the remote Northumberland countryside, and I literally mean join me, as I recorded this episode on location at the site of the bloodiest battle in the history of England. This loss of life, a little over 500 years ago, appears to have left its mark on this land, as the sights and sounds of battle, and of death, are experienced here all too often.
Let's ask together just how haunted is Flodden Field?

April Patreon Teaser - Preston Tower

April Patreon Teaser - Preston Tower

In the 20th Patreon bonus podcast you join me on location at a 14th century pele tower in Northumberland, constructed during uncertain times when England was at war with Scotland, and being so close to the border required this tower to be fortified.
But what would happen when, all alone, I stepped foot inside this tower? Would I hear the footsteps and voices heard here all too often, or perhaps I would be unfortunate enough to encounter the Preston Hound? Also you'll hear all about what happened to a listener when they visited during the summer of 2023.
So tonight, join me as together we ask, just how haunted is Preston Tower?

Bonus Episode 10 - The Cammo Estate

Bonus Episode 10 - The Cammo Estate

Originally released for Patreons in June 2023 I hope you enjoy this very special episode.
A grand estate built around a house built in 1693, and destroyed by fire in 1977 is said to be the haunt of shadowy figures belonging to those who knew the building so well in life. The stable block, added in 1811, is one of the more active areas. Why this is the case we’ll likely never know.
Phantom lights float around the house, and whispering is heard deep in the woodland. Dogs howl and bark within the grounds in the dead of night, and can be heard for miles around.
Would I encounter any of these phantoms when my team and I investigated this estate back in the spring of 2012?
    Let's find out together.
Tonight, join me for a very special episode, as we return to Edinburgh and ask just how haunted is the Cammo Estate?

Really Enjoyable Podcast

Cannot say anymore other than I look forward to every release that Rob comes up with. Great podcast, enjoyable, interesting, and head and shoulders above some of the others. And U.K. based. Keep up the outstanding work.

Really well done, spooky podcast

Really entertaining show - it’s great to learn more about the history of all these interesting locations (predominantly northern England and Scotland - reflecting Rob’s base in North-east England) - Rob gives a rundown of the history and ghost tales of each place, and sometimes he and his friends have visited the location and conducted ghost hunts of their own. For these episodes Rob reads accounts of how the ghost hunts went, which is an enjoyable addition and sets this podcast a little apart from a lot of the paranormal podcasts available. Crucially Rob is a good, lively storyteller and knows how to keep the story interesting. Of course, there’s a lot of stories about the poor souls who’ve died in these locations and therefore why the place is haunted. There’s a lot of grisly episodes from medieval times with some truly terrible stories. Sometimes there’s a little too much detail of the gore and particularly the suffering for me so I tend to fast forward a little bit at these times! But the rest is so good it’s worth it even for ultra-sensitive souls like me!

Narration

May well have some interesting accounts to share with the listener but unfortunately they are narrated at such speed it makes the podcast for the greater part manifestly inaccessible. Slow down, just slow down please, it’s not a race, and will allow others not of your native accent to be able to engage. I understand nervousness and perhaps a lack of professional training and or experience can hinder a person’s ability to deliver a compelling story but by merely slowing down the orator will be 90% of the way there. Try it, perhaps spend a day at the local crown court to see how professionals use various vocabulary skills to engage juries.
