13 Witches With A Side of Grits: The Witching Hour

What would you do if you found out you were not only adopted but came from a line of 13 witches from New Orleans? What if all of your witchy ancestors were haunted by a mysterious and terrifying spirit? What if the man you wanted to marry was connected to your New Orleans family and, after a near-death experience started experiencing psychic phenomena? What if you and he moved back to New Orleans, moved into the decaying family mansion, inherited billions of dollars, spent your days renovating the house and eating grits and eggs and drinking lots of bourbon? What if the ghostly spirit started to haunt you emotionally and sexually? Would you drown your terror in red beans and rice and oysters? Or would you help this spirit to enter the world of humans by giving birth to a baby that the spirit could possess? We'll discuss these famishingly fascinating questions and discuss the connection between food and horror in Anne Rice's 1990 masterpiece The Witching Hour and the less-than-masterful TV miniseries The Mayfair Witches based on the book, so please join us! Sisters of the Moon: Practical Magic

Now what would you do if you and your sister found out that you came from a long line of witches, including your two aunts who raised you? What would you do if your sister ran off with one crazy man and came back years later with another crazy man that you had to kill.....twice? Worse yet, what if his evil spirit continued to haunt you and your sister and the family home? What would you do if you were raising your own two daughters to be mini witches, complete with herbs, cooking and baking, and they started casting spells on each other as a result? What if your witchy aunts insisted on having midnight margaritas with you and your sister - surely you wouldn't say no to midnight margaritas, would you? What if the spell you cast on yourself to never fall in love with anyone other than an impossible man came true and the impossible man showed up at your door asking questions about the dead guy? What if you spent your time pushing him away and also trying to impress him with your cooking, including olive and cream cheese sandwiches, apple tarts, stuffed mushrooms, marshmallow pies, and pot roast? We'll discuss these hungrily horrifying questions and analyze the connection between food and horror (and witchcraft!) in the novel Practical Magic and the 1998 film of the same name, so please join us!  Contact us at: fearfeastswithvanessaandallie@gmail.com Like us on Facebook: https://facebook.com/fearfeastspodcast Follow us on Instagram: https://instagram.com/fearfeasts Xcite us on X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/fear_feasts
