Listened as I know Joe and he’s very kindly been a guest on my podcast, but honestly was not expecting the clear passion and quality you guys have. Currently in Vietnam visiting friends so the content kind of suits the feel of the country. Very much enjoyed the chat and tunes, need to wise myself up to your obviously deep knowledge and a genre I’ve only dabbled in listening too. Really encouraging to see a genre flourishing like this, keep it up! Mike.
Great hosts with great music

I've been subscribed for a while now, and whenever I see a new version is ready it always goes straight to the top of my listening pile! The current iteration of the show is CheapWave, a collab between mainstay/Pterodactyl Squad netlabel owner Joe, and chiptune superstar James "Cheapshot", who also runs CheapBeats, a popular chiptune netlabel. It's obvious that these two are extremely passionate about the music, always sourcing and finding new tracks from across the entire spectrum of chiptune, from heavy-metal style bangers to cutesy pop tunes! They also make attempts to showcase artists from all over the world, which is appreciated. They generally always tell you where you can find the music they play, which helps should you wish to explore a certain artist more. The show has a casual radio feel, with the two guys chatting inbetween songs, from what they've been doing since the last podcast, to a regular feature on Japanese culture - but they're not cringey weeaboos or anything, more discussing various holidays and customs of the country. The only faults are - they're so irregular! The two guys running it have lives and families, so it makes sense, but more than once every few months would be great! Also, sometimes the Microphone isn't so great on Joe's side, but hey, it's a free show! I'm not sure what else to add - if you love chiptune/8-bit/VGM, you'll definitely love this show! If you're unsure - give a few episodes a download, see how you feel.
A new place to call home...
