Our God Is Able
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are in trouble. They refuse to bow down and worship the idol set up by King Nebuchadnezzar. He is furious. They're about to be thrown into a burning furnace heated up 7 times more than usual. Yet they utter these words in faith - "..our God whom we serve is able to deliver us..", fully convicted not to worship the idols even if God did NOT deliver them.

God's Power On Display
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and he wanted to know what it meant. But not one wise man in his kingdom could tell him what he wanted to know. Except, God could, through his servant Daniel.

Out Of Context
In our first sermon, Kyle Essary, one of our elders, preached from Daniel 1 which we explored the clash of cultures, the temptation to compromise, and the peaceful resistance Daniel and his companions experienced. We learned from Daniel 1 about how we should live in a world where cultures collide. The biblical solution is to seek godly wisdom through prayer, meditation on the gospel, and living in a Christian community. We also learned about God’s sovereignty. It was God, and not Nebuchadnezzar, who was ultimately the one moving the wheel of history to accomplish his eternal ends. We take comfort knowing that God is working, even amidst the chaos in this world. As believers, we're called to represent the true King in cultures that may not know Him, affirming the positive while rejecting sin and remaining hopeful in God's grace. Let's be agents of grace, affirming God's goodness and pointing others to Christ in a broken world.

Remembering Easter
Blessed Easter from the Gospel City Church family! There were so many joyous sights — children dancing, new faces, old faces, covenant partners sharing testimonies, and a meal shared together.
Massimo preached a jubilant Easter message about remembering the resurrection daily. He encouraged us from the Scriptures to let the good news of Jesus’ victory impact everything in our lives — as it should! And equipped with such good news, how can we not also now go out & tell others about Jesus? -
Peter: Apostle or Apostate?
Many know the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed. But this week, we got to reflect on this story more deeply.
Before denying Jesus, Peter had been eager & even courageous as a disciple. But all of us, like Peter, are vulnerable to things that we love more than we love Jesus — and so we falter and fail to identify with Jesus at times in our lives.
After denying Jesus, Peter grieved his own failure, received the grace of Jesus in his death & resurrection, and moved on to strengthen others in love.
Ultimately, this account of Peter’s failure shows us the courage required of us, yet the tremendous grace freely given to us. What a moving message to start our Easter week. -
The Art of Remembering
The Lord's Supper was instituted by Jesus as a way to help us remember. We remember the past - how Jesus suffered for our sins; we remember the present - that even in our fallen human nature, God continually guides us and continues to be faithful to us; and we remember the future - that Christ will come again, he will restore all things and we will be reunited with him.
Let us practice the art of remembering the faithfulness of God every day, learning to call to mind these reminders to help encourage and strengthen us as we face life's challenges and temptations!
