The Mummy (1999) feat. Bright Light Bright Light

The Mummy (1999) feat. Bright Light Bright Light

Don't read from the Book of the Dead and definitely don't pick up any of those Scarab jewels, because we're discussing Stephen Sommers' masterful action-adventure-horror-romantic-comedy The Mummy (1999), just in time for its 25th anniversary! Tagging in for the conversation is Welsh singer-songwriter Rod Thomas, aka Bright Light Bright Light!
Join us as we go all in on this summer blockbuster spectacle. From the bisexual energy of a perfectly cast Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to a rather wild and incredibly lengthy production history (Clive Barker was involved???), we've got you covered on all things The Mummy!
Plus: how Babe: Pig in the City almost ruined Universal, an educational conversation about Rotten Tomatoes, and one major disagreement over a drunk acting scene!

Favourite Horror Podcast 🩸

Came across these guys when looking to listen to someone talk about their love of horror films endlessly as much as I do! Love how their personalities work together and both Trace and Joe always make me laugh. They have brilliant guests on too and have some thought provoking and interesting conversations around queerness in horror, as well as in depth analysis of a huge range of horror films. Thanks for keeping me entertained and covering some of my fave classics, as well as expanding my ever growing horror watchlist 💕

Informative, funny and intersectional

I love film history and I love these guys and their excellent guests. Have faithfully listened since the beginning and I look forward to this podcast every week.

Iconic queeriod exclamation mark

The queer readings can be a wild fun stretch but that’s what’s great about cinema people find their own readings. Hearing two scholars talk about horrors with so much depth and love of the genre is *chefs kiss*. You don’t need to have the same readings of movies to listen to the podcast just enjoy two queer horror fans talk about the movies you love (or fear) in depth and having fun doing what they love.
