Changing Our Perspective Completely Transforms Our Lives

Changing Our Perspective Completely Transforms Our Lives

We’ve all been there – feeling stuck in a rut, overwhelmed by responsibilities, and like nothing will ever change. But as Jodie Lynn Craven’s experience shows us, all it takes is shifting your perspective to completely transform your reality.

Jodie Lynn found herself burning the candle at both ends, taking on more than she could handle on her family’s farm while also juggling a full-time job and side business. She felt unheard and undervalued, and it was taking a serious toll on both her wellbeing and her relationship. But one day, she made a decision that changed everything – she decided to stop viewing the farm’s success as her sole responsibility, and to only take on tasks that brought her joy.

The results were nothing short of miraculous. Simply by altering her mindset, Jodie Lynn went from constant overwhelm and frustration to feeling relaxed and energized. Her husband’s demeanor also shifted, becoming far more supportive. She realized that her perspective had been creating her experience of stress and struggle, when in reality things didn’t need to be that way at all.

This got me thinking about how often I fall into the trap of believing “this is just how it is.” But as Jodie Lynn shows us, that simply isn’t true – we have so much more power than we realize to change our reality by changing our perspective. I was also struck by how often I forget to see others, even difficult customers, as multidimensional beings rather than one-dimensional characters. Recognizing our shared humanity is so important for cultivating compassion.

Jodie Lynn’s story gives us hope that no matter how stuck we feel, we have the ability to transform our experience from the inside out.

I’m inspired to look for opportunities every day to broaden my perspective and see situations, and people, in a new light. Our circumstances may not always be in our control, but our mindset always is. A simple shift in perspective really can change everything.

The Merging Of Science and Spirituality Is Happening Now

The Merging Of Science and Spirituality Is Happening Now

Walt watched a recent film called The Sense Of Beauty on Amazon Prime the other day. In it, he learned that the closer modern day theoretical physicists look at the Universe from a quantum level, the more baffled they are by it.

The film is about the work being done at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, located in Geneva, Switzlerland. CERN is the site of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and highest-energy particle collider.

In 2012, CERN managed to detect for the first time ever the Higgs boson subatomic particle. It has been speculated that this particle has many of the same characteristics as the point of singularity that modern physics says exploded into The Big Bang that created all of the known Universe.

Walt also watched another movie called, Everything and Nothing: The Amazing Science of Empty Space.

The combination of things he picked from these movies tells him that Science is much closer to adopting spiritual beliefs than ever before because of what it has learned, as described in these movies.

He and Anne-Marie discuss this in today’s episode.

Walt said watching the documentaries on quantum physics left him with more questions than answers. “I started to fill in some gaps in my understanding, but I found new gaps,” Walt explained.

As the pair dove deeper, they explored particle physics discoveries like the Higgs boson and how Einstein’s theory of relativity connects to Max Planck’s work. But reconciling theories proved difficult, with Anne-Marie wondering how angles could add to more than 180 degrees. Walt described how the films visualized the concept using a deflated balloon, showing how space itself may curve. A British physicist helped solve the problem by merging Einstein and Plonk’s concepts, leading to the discovery of antimatter. But uncertainty remains, as 400 experts were wrong about the Higgs boson.

“How do you even start to comprehend that information?” Anne-Marie wondered. With only 5% of the universe understood, the conversation turned to creativity and the power of thought.

Walt shared finding a local group exploring these ideas, saying “I was tense but comfortable opening up to the group.”

For Anne-Marie, connecting provides “an education” beyond listening. As science faces the unknown looking for answers, parallels emerge with spirituality. Creativity now drives exploration, as rules fall apart. Walt sees this maximizing potential, believing “thought controls what happens in space.”

For Anne-Marie, “anything is possible,” shifting from “woowoo” to schools.

Philip Blackett - Finding Unity Through Respectful Dialogue

Philip Blackett - Finding Unity Through Respectful Dialogue

How can we have meaningful conversations with those who have differing views without disrespect or hostility? This question was at the heart of Philip Blackett's recent conversation on LOA Today with hosts Walt Thiessen and Jodie Lynn Craven.

Philip shared the inspiration for his new book, Disagree Without Disrespect: How to Respectfully Debate with Those who Think, Believe and Vote Differently from You - a lost opportunity for deeper understanding between himself and his sister during a family visit, due to tensions rising without respectful dialogue. "If I experienced that, I wonder how many other people...are probably having similar instances where there's something of value...and just because there's the possibility of disagreement, we don't even engage," reflected Philip.

This resonated with Jodie Lynn's experience at a virtual racial diversity event where "nobody talked...except for Anita." She wondered, "I was really excited to come and learn. And I don't know, tell me all the things, but nobody talked about it." The importance of creating safe spaces for open sharing was emphasized.

Walt recalled graying early and initially feeling upset, until realizing "this is me disagreeing with myself." Personal responsibility in how we respond to life was key. Respect and appreciation emerged as ways to facilitate tough conversations. Philip outlined a 5-step framework: "separate the idea or belief from the identity of the believer."

The conversation dove deeply into navigating conflicting emotions and viewpoints. Jodie Lynn noted "if you were to allow yourself to fully experience the whole picture, you might forget what you're fighting about." Walt wondered "Why do we cut ourselves off from this flow [of feelings]?" The human capacity for choice and changing perspectives over time was explored.

In the end, Jodie Lynn emphasized "we can still have that love and kindness and separate the idea from the individual, and disagree with love." This emotional intelligence is what our world deeply needs. Through respectful dialogue and understanding differing views, we can leave the world better than we found it.

Matt O'Neill: How Choosing Positivity Can Help You Overcome Life's Challenges

Matt O'Neill: How Choosing Positivity Can Help You Overcome Life's Challenges

Our guest on LOA Today shared powerful insights into navigating life's challenges with a positive mindset. Matt shared how he transformed his life after experiencing struggles with drugs and negative thinking in his twenties. "I finally was like, well, maybe that means I'm in the wrong place," he reflected. This realization led him to make positive changes like moving locations and discovering the Law of Attraction.

Jodie Lynn discussed her journey with suppressing emotions to appear strong. "I needed to change the way that my perspective was," she said. With support from her father, she learned to shift limiting beliefs and give herself permission to feel. Both guests emphasized cultivating gratitude and focusing on growth over dwelling in negativity.

When Matt and his wife faced fertility struggles and a traumatic birth experience, he recognized life's uncertainties. However, a sign from nature after the delivery gave him comfort. Walt shared a similar bird encounter after his father's passing. These experiences show how love ones can reassure us in difficult times.

While the Law of Attraction seemed to work for positive goals at first, Matt later ignored signs his massive business goals did not align with his heart. He faced hardship but transformed his work to focus on relationships and learning. Walt emphasized making swift, heart-centered responses to challenges with community support.

In closing, Jodie Lynn wove the discussion's themes together beautifully. She encouraged allowing "infinite possibilities" to guide our decisions. Overall, the guests demonstrated how choosing positivity, following our heart's guidance, and finding meaning in life's ups and downs can help us overcome any challenge with resilience.

Ray Martin – A Journey of Self-Discovery and the Power of Human Connection

Ray Martin – A Journey of Self-Discovery and the Power of Human Connection

Ray’s unexpected 14-year journey of self-discovery showed him the transformative power of embracing life’s changes. After losing his business and marriage in a short period of time, Ray felt like his “life just didn’t look the same” and he was “standing in a kind of bomb crater just turning around and nothing left in every direction.” Feeling adrift, Ray surrendered to a friend’s suggestion of a sabbatical, not knowing it would lead him on a life-changing adventure.

When Ray’s initial six-month trip to Asia left him still feeling “agitated and very scared about the future,” a monastery retreat opened his eyes to a new perspective. As Ray explored this “dimension further,” doors continued opening that kept him traveling for over a decade. He discovered his true passion helping others through coaching and fundraising. Ray found that “the more it unfolded, the more I sort of was following what it felt like to me my true path in the world.”

The hosts discussed how unexpected changes like Ray experienced can throw our lives into the “neutral zone” of transition. As Anne-Marie shared, what feels “frightening” and “skittish” at the time may lead to better outcomes, like her unexpected housing change. Walt emphasized the importance of “treading water” and “keeping your head above” the turmoil during life’s disruptions.

Ray now sees the journey as abandoning a “cycle of craving” driven by desires for status and comfort. Through minimalism and presence, he embraces each “micro decision” to live “true to myself.” The hosts agreed self-awareness is key to navigating life’s contrasts, like discerning inner “voices.” Walt envisioned an explosion of human connection, for better and worse, as our relationships multiply through technology.

By prioritizing “what was most important” like presence over prestige, Ray found fulfillment helping others one-on-one. His story inspires embracing life’s changes to discover our true paths.
