Jonny on… Truly Getting Out of Our Own Way
“Underneath the individual I there lies the Universal I.”
Throughout the podcast over the last few series, we have heard many beautiful voices talking about the power of getting out of our own way so that we may remember what is already here, what we already are. In our Thursday main episode Jonny meets Mooji, a spiritual guru who shows him what this really means. In today’s little episode Jonny reflects on this intense experience and his realisation that accepting and letting go are not just clever little strategies or a nice ideas to help us get what we want. It’s all or nothing.
Big questions in today’s episodes:
- What is the difference between the person we are and the being we are?
- How do we disentangle ourselves from living in the mind?
- How do we come to be aware and experience our being?

Jonny on… The Balance Between the Mind and the Body
Today Jonny digs deeper into the concept of embodiment proposed and practised by Rachael Hall, an elite ballet dancer who left the stage to explore Buddhism, Pilates and the Franklin method. Rachel guests on the main episode this Thursday. This episode though is all about balance and the power of releasing ourselves from the mind and rooting back in the body. Jonny investigates the impending conflict to come from letting the mind lead us when going after our goals. As well as this, Jonny draws on his own experiences in rugby and the importance of vulnerability and intuition in personal growth and fulfillment exploring the immensity of the heart and its role along the way.
Big topics explored today:
- The importance of embodiment and being present in the moment, especially in achieving goals.
- The balance between mind and body, and the dangers of leaning too much towards thinking and reasoning.
- The tendency to prioritise safety and comfort over vulnerability and intuition, and the need to welcome and explore fear and doubt.
- The conflict between the head and the heart when seeking fulfilment, the importance of being authentic and true to oneself and how we might shift in this direction of beauty and grace.

Customer Reviews
Transformational show
What a gift this guy is and what a gift this show is. In his rugby career and now in accessible media, Jonny is sharing who he is at the deepest level and that instinctively gives me permission to be myself as well. Absolutely loved the episode with Foxy - as a marriage counsellor I am dealing with anger all of the time, to see there is no place for it in combat or at highest level of rugby is just a dream. So so so grateful for this - thanks so much - Ben Leppier
