The Last Samurai (with Katie Smith Wong)

The Last Samurai (with Katie Smith Wong)

Shots fired on the first episode of Hiro Worship as Tom Cruise conquers his alcoholism, learns about honour and stuff, and saves an entire nation from losing its culture to the western scourge. Matt and Daryl were fortunate enough to have film critic and writer Katie Smith Wong on their episode on Edward Zwick's 2003 film, The Last Samurai. This film is Hiroyuki Sanada's hollywood debut, and the start of a whole new phase of the man's storied career.
You can check out some of Katie's work here.

Episode two of Hiro Worship sees Daryl, Matt, and Patrick (from Vintage Video Podcast) duking it out against Sonny Chiba and his horde of gold hunting lackeys in Shogun's Ninja. A film in which a baby-faced Hiroyuki Sanada kills the sensei he learned a bunch of cool tricks from but the guy's like, "Nah my dude it's fine. Hos before bros. Peace out".

Love it!

This podcast had pointed me to a few hidden gems and amazing episode songs. Really informative and deep dives into some great films and for ones that are a bit rubbish it is still funny to listen to. ‘Won’t you take me to Clancy Brown’ has been in my head for weeks!

Where the Wild Things Are

I cannot tell a L.I.E this is a fantastic podcast with Gigantic potential. Seriously, I have been listening to this Knight and Day and it has me feeling like Little Miss Sunshine. A great podcast looking at the career of Paul Dano, who's basically The King of supporting roles. An actor who can portray Love and Mercy, Cowboys and Aliens- hell, he could even play The Girl Next Door. This is a guy whose talent shines like Ruby Sparks. Any of The Newcomers out there should check out this podcast ASAP.
