LIFE UNfiltered is something new. Something different. Something real and relatable. Born on North Shore 104.9 FM in Boston, LIFE UNfiltered celebrates the messy, perfectly imperfect parts of life.

In every conversation, author & syndicated columnist Lisa Sugarman and licensed psychotherapist Debra Gansenberg, MSW, LICSW talk about the everyday issues that are affecting them as moms, wives, working professionals, and friends.

Gansenberg, the mom of three boys, and Sugarman, the mom of two daughters, take the theme from their latest book "How To Raise Perfectly Imperfect Kids And Be Ok With It," and apply it to every aspect of life from raising kids and marriage to work and self-care and everything in between. They talk, unfiltered, about all the stuff that’s keeping you up at night. And here’s the thing… they actually give you permission to make mistakes and drop some balls. And be ok with it.

Lisa and Debra focus on topics that affect all of us and have open, honest conversations about the good, the bad, the ugly, and all the moving parts that make up our day-to-day lives. And they incorporate a mix of clinical advice, stories, tips, proven strategies from the trenches AND the therapy couch, and a bunch of laughs, to help you find the magic within life’s screwups.

LIFE UNfiltered Episode83 LAST Episode on the value of taking breaks

LIFE UNfiltered is hitting PAUSE, so THIS IS OUR LAST EPISODE on North Shore 104.9FM.

After nearly two amazing years on the radio, we’ve decided it’s time to press pause on LIFE UNfiltered as a way of reinvigorating ourselves and the show and to make space for other new and exciting projects together. So this week's show will be our last on North Shore 104.9 FM. But this isn’t the end… it’s simply a break to allow us to explore new formats and different platforms that will allow us to launch v2 of the show with renewed purpose and energy.

We’re so deeply grateful to our family at WBOQ-FM for giving us the opportunity to reach so many parents and families each week over the airways. And we’re equally as grateful to you, our listeners, for taking the time to tune in and listen every Sunday morning. So join us for one last conversation as we chat about the value of taking a break & hitting pause and why we’re so excited about what this break means for us. Thanks, friends! We'll see you again soon!

LIFE UNfiltered Episode82 The difference between fitting in & belonging

This week’s topic is especially important this time of year since this is a time of transition and change for many of us. And as we make those transitions to school and work and new relationships, one of the biggest challenges we face is navigating the difference between fitting in and belonging. Because there isn’t one of us who hasn’t felt the need to conform in order to fit in at some point along the way. That’s why today’s conversation focuses on the struggle to find our way and our people and where we belong without compromising who we are in the process.

LIFE UNfiltered is something different. Something real. Something honest. And something relatable. It’s a talk show that celebrates the messy, perfectly imperfect parts of life. LIFE UNfiltered Episode81 Saying yes to someone is saying no to YOU

LIFE UNfiltered Episode81 Saying yes to someone is saying no to YOU

This week, we’re jumping back to something we touched on briefly during last week’s show about expectations and we’re making it the focus of today’s conversation. It’s what happens to us when we say yes to someone else. Because too often, especially for those of us who are people pleasers (like we know we are), we’re always inclined to say yes to everyone around us even when we might not have the time or the ability or the interest in doing something for someone else. And when we say yes to someone else, we’re actually saying no to ourselves. So today’s conversation is focused on how to recognize and change that behavior.

LIFE UNfiltered Episode80 How to stop expecting YOU from other people

This morning on LIFE UNfiltered on North Shore 104.9FM, we’re talking about expectations and how to have them withOUT letting them overtake us when the people in our lives don’t give us love or support or attention in the same way(s) we give it to them. LIFE UNfiltered Episode79 Replay of Episode2 on daily practices

This week, we’re replaying one of our original episodes that we feel is a really important one right now. Because these days, in light of recent concerns over the Delta variant of Covid-19, there’s a new layer of stress added to our days. And as a result, we need to lean into our daily rituals or routines now more than we have in a while as a way of staying grounded and centered and sane. That’s why, today’s conversation is all about the importance of building, growing, and maintaining our daily practices to ensure that we don’t drift out into open waters and lose our bearings.

LIFE UNfiltered Episode78 The magic of pets

LIFE UNfiltered Episode78 The magic of pets

This week we’re changing it up a little and talking about something that’s not exactly parenting-related (at least not in the traditional sense) and it’s not pandemic-related (although there’s some crossover there too), but it’s something we know a ton of you listening will be able to relate to on lots of different levels and it’s a subject we both love. Today we’re talking about our pets. Our dogs and our cats and all the beautiful benefits that are attached to having pets in our lives. So, if you’re a dog or a cat owner, we’re sure you’ll be able to connect with a lot of this morning’s show. And if you don’t have an animal in your life right now but you’ve been thinking about adopting one, hopefully this conversation will help give you that final nudge you need to bring one home. Because there’s nothing quite like bringing an animal into your family.
